Default Dash Lights Flashing

Okay, now this is worrying me a lot. 3 times now i have seen the battery light, the lock light, the seat belt light and the low fuel light come one and the needles (except for the RPM and Speedo) drop to 0. No other lights are flashing and the lights on the inside are not flashing. Just that is happening.

Any idea what it is before I take it to the dealer for help? This is really bugging me.

Thanks.

Not in my hummer, but have seen the exact same thing happen in a chevy pickup. We found 2 things wrong at the time, so not sure which it was, but maybe you can narrow it down... 1 we were doing a stereo install, and had tapped into a bad gound wire, second was that the little harness the connects to the parking break was slightly loose.

Hope this helps

Only thing I installed was the ipod adapter that was plugged into the XM spot. I did not touch anything else.

Anyone else have this issue????

Interesting, I installed the ipod adapter last week also. 3 days later, Friday, my abs, brake & trac cntl lights all flashed and the chime sounded 3 times then it went off. Has happened to me 4 different times since. I already had an appointment scheduled for this morning at the Hummer dealer, so they are taking a look. I did not mention the ipod adapter, so it will be interesting to see what they come back with. Cant' imagine they are related, but who knows.

Joe,

This happened to me twice this weekend. Mine is a brand new 2007 H2.

As you know from the other thread (Ultimate iPod Adapter), I have also installed the Nucleus X2i iPod adapter. As mine is a brand new car, and I installed the ipod adapter immediately after purchase, I wasn't sure if it was the car or the adapter.

This weekend, I uninstalled the iPod adapter. As the electrical problem was intermittent, I was going to drive around for a week or so and see if it happens again without the Nucleus adapter.

Keep in touch so we can let each other know how it goes. My hope is that it is the adapter and not the car!

I'll also post on the Ultimate iPod adapter thread.

Do those Ipod adapters require any type of ground?
The problem sounds a lot like an intermittent ground problem.

I agree, it sounds like a ground problem.

Unfortunately, the adapter comes with a Y harness that simply splits the XM connector for hookup to the XM tuner and the iPod Adapter. No actual ground wire for the adapter.

There is, however, an AUX input (RCA jacks) on the ipod adapter, and there are two "hot power" wires from the harness for connection to an AUX device. I taped these wires off with electrical tape upon install. Maybe these are the problem.

I will be calling the manufacturer tech support to ask them for assistance.

Thanks for the input.

Sounds like the ipod adapter is the problem.

Mine is still doing it (5 or 6 times total now). I did the same tape job on the power wires and I have nothing installed in the AUX spot.

Let me know if you get any help from Tech support.

Mine does the same thing I have been in touch with A.I. and the tech are testing the code to see if the last changes are the problem. I will be talking with them again in the next day or so.

vlxjim - Thanks. Let me know what they say. I hope this doesn't mean we have to send them in for upgrades and be without them for a long period of time. By the way, what version do you have? Mine is 5.03.

Ver.5.0.3

I have been in touch with A.I. and they are looking into the problem. I?m going to drive out there next week and switch out my X2i for one out of a new batch to see if it helps. I don?t think that the problem is an update for the power train control module. A.I. has been installing these at there local H2 dealership on all year H2?s with no problems reported so far. And when I had my Ver.4 X2i I did not have this problem. I now have it with the newest Ver.5 X2i. I to have been asked to tell you guy not to mod the ground wire as this is not the fix. A.I. will be looking into a programming problem on there end as there could have been a bad batch sent out. As soon as A.I. has a fix you well all be taken care of. At this time this seems to be only an harmless intermittent problem. And should be fixed soon.

Is there any of us that don?t have this problem? What year H2?

And who is having this problem? What year H2? Problem observed?

I just spoke with Keith in Tech Support at AI. They have certainly gotten the message that a bunch of us are having this same problem with the units.

Per Keith, they have install a bunch of these in Los Angeles for the local Hummer Dealerships, and have called around inquiring if they dealers are seeing this issue. So far no reports of problems.

A.I. thinks there may be a problem with the last batch of 1500 of these units, and they are investigating and trying to solve the issue. Will await their response.

I have disconnected my unit, as electrical malfunctions in a modern automabile may not always be an insignificant nuisance. I am also worried that a bad ipod unit could permanently damage another electrical component in the car.

Even with the unit disconnected, I just noticed that my XM display shows the full song title, but only the FIRST LETTER of the artists name. Per Keith at A.I., the XM may need a "reset" which he said occurs automatically every few weeks, or can be done via request to XM.

After my power train reprogram it is still happening, surprise surprise. I figured as much but thought I'd give the dealer a chance. I have also uninstalled mine. Is there any word if we should just return to logjam electronics and get a replacement? I know when AI emailed me earlier in the week they suggested I do this. Should we wait or return? I hate having a $200 upgrade that just sits in the garage

As I said earlier I will be going out to A.I. this week to try out a new batch. If this does not work A.I. well be looking at the program in the X2i. My old ver.4 was a little slower and the text was not as good but there were no false dash lights. So this should not be too hard from the programmers at A.I. to find out. At that time you should be able to get you X2i replaced.

I uninstalled my Nucleus X2i last week. No more flashing lights.

I have returned both of mine. (I never got to install the second one in my wife's 2005 H2).

Does anyone know when the GM PAL (Personal Audio Link) is coming out? They made a big announcement in August 2006, but I haven't seen or heard a word since.

The other option is to see if the Peripheral Electronics unit is "identical" or just similar, but I don't think I have the stomach for it.
