Towing H3 behind motorhome?
Anyone out there tow their H3 behind a motorhome? I plan on towing mine and would like to know how everyone is hooking it up to their motorhome. The factory towhooks look a little small for the connections of my motorhome. Did anyone have to make a custom bracket or buy one from the dealer or just hook up as is? Any help here would be great!

Re: Towing H3 behind motorhome?
I know talks manual talks about towing and putting the car in neutral, but I cant imagine that being too good for the trans and t-case. I see heeps all the time being towed behind motorhomes. Maybe this is an F5 question.

Re: Towing H3 behind motorhome?
it's easy. use the rigging to the tow hooks and you should be fine. lock out the dif and boom. The H2 use to rack up miles being towed if the H3 does as well their is a fuse to pull when towing to prevent. use the anti sway deal so you never have a issue.

Re: Towing H3 behind motorhome?
I've been on some roadtrips with folks towing their H3's, H2's and H1's. They all had systems like what Big Z linked to.
There's a section in the manual about how to flat-tow. Read it.

I put mine on a trailer..........
Seriously, with all the crap you have to have as far as brakes and hook ups, it's just way easier to just put it on a trailer and be able to back up if you need to.

It depends. Where do you put the trailer? Campgrounds are pretty crowded. I OWN a nice car hauler and have had my H3 on it. Flat towing is easy once you get set up and you don't have to worry about where the trailer's stored. The footprint of the H3 is a LOT smaller than an 18' dovetail car hauler. You also add half a ton of trailer weight too. The H3 can be flat towed with no modification, and no damage. With the tow bar, wiring, and required brake system, you're towin'!
I would forgo the brake systems that put tremendous pressure on the brake pedal to operate the brakes without vacuum pressure. I'm looking at this thing. http://www.smibrake.com/showme.html

Re: Towing H3 behind motorhome?
It's not rocket science man, 15-30 minutes at a good RV place and they will have it all set up for you. Whats so hard about pulling a fuse and seting up the wireing?
AND YEA I'm FU*kin nuts. Flat bed is the best but that was not the question.

Re: Towing H3 behind motorhome?
I have been keeping an eye out for ways to hook up the H3 to our motorhome and the one that I like so far is:
http://www.aemfg.com/pdfs/BX4104.pdf
I am bearing in mind the brake pressure that was mentioned earlier on this forum.
Best regards, Happy Jack

Re: Towing H3 behind motorhome?
Bro,You can tow with the H3, Not a problem. Go to Demco products they will be the least expensive, Blue ox will work but at a higher price for everything.
My setup that i went with is demco tow bar, demco base plates, brake buddy, and brake away switch, also basic tail light plug set up. The manual has the proper procedure to but in nuetual for dinghy tow. I've towed to the Gand canyon not a problem. also one thing the h3 weighs 4700lbs if your m/h is gas its max tow is 5000lbs. if towing with a pusher then the tow capacity is alot higher.
Good luck happy trails.
