Default New to forum from AUssie

Hi everyone,

Not new to Hummer but am new to this forum. My rig is an 07 H3 Adventure 5 speed manual. Have done a fair bit of modification to it to turn it into a 2 person tourer fro travel to remote areas.

This how we set up when we are camping..

I run 35" MTZ's on 17" steel rims. The suspension is a Rancho kit butt he rear has been heavily modified to suit what I do and to carry the weight of my rear drawer system and 14.5 gallon water tank.

The rear has extended shackles which I did myself, the 2nd leaf replaced with a stronger leaf complete with military wrap end, the 3rd leaf is longer and stronger, a Rancho add-a-leaf for the bottom leaf, extended bump stop and big bore Rancho longer shocks.

Welcome
X2 on the pics.
My H3 is a (temporary) 2 seater also.(for my dog)

I soon will take out the double back seat, put in a platform and use a 32 inch X apx 6 foot mattress and have the use of the right back seat and it will be a 3 seater.
It will be mostly for the dog(I think Ill attach the seatbelt (left side)to his harness on long trips.
It will also be used to take a nap for either my wife or myself on the long driving days for our road trip with the camper to NM in may/june.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. My wife and really enjoy camping and touring so that was the brief in setting up the rig. The first thing I did was to build and instal a cargo barrier to protect us from all the stuff in the back incase of an accident.

Then I built a set of drawers which would hold our food and cooking gear etc plus allow room for our Engel 40L fridge. I took out the rear seats and built a frame which bolts to the original tie downs in the cargo area plus picks up on a couple of the bolts from the rear seats.

Next was the frame of the drawers..

This is actually in 2 halves so I can get it in and out, and the 2 halves bolt together. One side is the drawers section and I had the drawer carcas folded at a local metal shop.

Covered it all and bingo..one set of drawers for a H3

The bottom drawer is a cooking drawer and we use a little butane cooker

This was before we got the roll out awnings at the side and rear but this was a wet weekned where ai just rigged a tarp and we cooked tea.

I also have 14.5 gallon water tamk with a little pump in so we have running water..

This is the area between the cargo barrier and the back of the drawers systen where I have the water tank and also where we keep our clothes bags, camping gear.."Aussie Swag"...plus tool kit, spares etc etc

Thats the swag on the top shelf

And it rolls out like this

Depending on how long we are staying and the weather we either sleep in this as it is, or for longer stays we have alittle dome tent and we roll out the swag inside the tent.

Becasue the Engel was a bit shorter than the drawers, I had a little area where I decided to create an electrical board to protect the power supply for the fridge, water pump, 12v lights and 500W inverter. Works really well as the door stops things falling against it. Since this picture was taken I have also mounted our dual battery there as well. Every things runs off the dual battery so we don not flatten the main battery when we are away..not fun having a flat battery in the middle of now where!

Thanks for posting this over here Nugget!! I have been drooling over your arb bumper and thinking about getting one for myself. Have you seen any H3's down there with the rear bumper from ARB? I would like to see one in black on a truck instead of the red promo one in the pics.

Is your rack an arb rack? It looks longer than the one offered for the H3.

Thanks for sharing, and I liked your videos about your truck.

Thanks H3slate..gald to be here. My bar is exactly what I wanted. Always wanted just the channel to keep the "Hummer" 7 tooth grill as the main attraction. I deal with ARB and they were kind enough to let me have this bar which was their protype of a Sahara bar which they developed for the H3 but then decided not to continue with into production. It came with a big chrome centre loop which sits in a corner of my shed!

Have not seen a black rear bar yet...might have to think about one for my rig!

The roof rack is a custom roof rack that I designed but sits on a set of ARB rails. I was lucky again to get a set of protype rails. ARB made 3 sets which have "H3" laser cut into them and again I was lucky enough to score a set.

Apparently ARB laser cut "FJ" into the rails for the FJ Cruiser roof rack they did for the US but Toyota got upset about them using "FJ" and threaten all manner of nasties. ARB had already made the H3 prototypes but subsequently decided to drop the laser cut H3 in production in case GM had a case of the "Toyota's"! End result was that I got a special set of rails to put my roof rack on!

I wanted the rack to be full length with the 4 spot lights across the front. Thought that was in keeping with the Hummer look and tradition. I have 1 support forward of where the rails end, but I do not put any weight there...keep it between the rails.

GREAT looking rig! Could you post some pictures of the way you mounted the awning? I bought a camping lab and mounted it to the rail on top, but I'm always looking to improve.
