Just read in Feb. Issue of Motor Trend and saw the following :

" Hummer will add GM's 300-horse, 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel to its lineup for the 2006 model year. The engine will launch at this division in the H1, but a Duramax H2 is likely to closely follow. For the H1, the Duramax won't replace the standard 230-horse, 6.5-liter diesel-it'll be an optional engine called Alpha. Adding the Duramax to the H2 currently offered only with a 6.0-liter gas V-8, is another sighn of automakers' bullishness on a diesel SUV market in the U.S. "

not worth it if your not going to be pulling a big load. i have found in the past from my other diesels that the MPG was the same pulling or not..thats the only advantage. but i also found that going from point a to point b was the same as a gas truck without pulling a load. not worth the option IMO unless your planning on keeping it for a very long time as a diesel will last forever
