H2 Rims? What size? What kind?
Hey everyone, getting my new 06 H2 next week. It's white, luxury, loaded with televisions, rear camera, nav, etc. I'm already in love! It has the rear tire mounted on the rear. Is there anyway to just take that off and leave it off? Seems like a pain in the ass to get in the trunk.
Anyway, I won't be taking it off road much, it's really for travel with the kids, around town, long trips, etc. I want to get some new rims, but have NO IDEA what the best size is. I want a smooth ride that isn't loud and drives as smooth as the stock rims/tires. I dont want anything that will rub or make me get lifts, etc. Looking for total comfort, smoothness and looks!
So should I get 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, etc? Also what is the best place to look for some kick ass rims? I love the rims on the H2 below but I hate the decals. What do you guys think of the rims? What kind are they and what size?
Any suggestions on some other nice rims or where to see other H2's with new rims? Thanks!

Re: H2 Rims? What size? What kind?
Another forum member is selling these
http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=32888
Same summer wheels I have on my 05 SUT.
The 22's are ok, I've had 17 OEM, 18 AR Teflons, and these. Ride is comparable between the sizes, the 22s are Toyo ATs, the 18s are Kuhmo MT
and the OEM are BFGs.
Put both of these on the car for about $1500 complete, KMCs were used, but the tires were new. The AR Teflons were new, and the Kuhmos had 500 miles on them. I thought both were good deals, bought through forum members here.

These are teflons. Center caps sold separately....
I can dig out pics later if you'd like them.
My .02.....

Re: H2 Rims? What size? What kind?
First you have to know what rim size you are going with to establish what tire you are going with. For a good clean look my preference is a 20in rim if you are going with a 35in tire and a 22in rim if you plan on going with a 37in tire. The performance of your truck on road will be better with the 35's as it takes more to spin the 37's and your truck will be a bit more sluggish. To the flip side H2s fit 37's and if you plan on frequently wheeling it will give you a slight advantage with a bit more ground clearance.
As far as tires you have several choices in all sizes. Fortunately there are some aggressive looking tires on the market that still ride and drive nicely but maintain the rugged look of the H2. A couple that come to mind are the procomp xtreme a/t and m/t, the toyo m/t, then the Kumho KL71. I ran the KL71s and I found they drasticly increase "roll" when cornering and I felt like i really had to slow down when cornering(it feels almost like the tire is about to roll off the rim). With the xtreme a/t this was not an issue at all. I think possibly the KL71 is structurally too weak a tire for a truck that weighs as much as the H2. I have not run the Toyo M/T but many rave over it. There are also tires by Mickety Thompson that would work well and are a great looking option as they are a wide fat tire that give a nice stance(specs on most 35 in tires are 12.50 wide where as teh pro comp xtreme a/t and the mickey thompsons are closer to 14.00).
Here are some pictures of the Kumho which is a 37x12.50 and my procomp 35x13.50 both on the same rims which are 20 x 10 kaotik NT-1:
The procomps have an attractive sidewall design:
The Kumhos do not, in the Kumho factory pictures it looks like they do however:
IMO a wider stance looks better...here is a 12.50(Kumho) vs. a 13.90(procomp)
Wide tires
Skinny tires

I've got the toyo a/t 325/70/17, I think it looks better then the BFG, handles great in the sand/mud, but also is pretty smooth on the hwy.

I like (And will get) 40's on 20's. Probably high for your type of riding. I just like the look and Oh yes, Mine will be a Hunting machine.
