So I bought the ski rack attachment for the crossbows and have an installation question. It appears that the rubber seal running through the center of the top of each crossbow must be (at least partially) removed in order to attached the ski rack. Is this correct? I assume you would just trim the rubber seal so that it runs up to the end of the ski atttachment rather than removing the entire length of the seal.

I will attach pictueres of what I'm talking about if no one has installed this yet. If you have and I'm not imagining things, please let me know as "trimming the crossbow rubber seal" was not mentioned in the installation instructions for the ski rack.

Thanks.

Personally I just pulled out the whole seal so when I take the rack off I have one whole piece. It seams to slide in and out pretty easily. This way I can put it all back in the spring-fall.

I thought about trimming it too but I dont keep the ski rack on but 3-4 months

I did the same thing. Pulled the rubber out and that way you have the full strip when you remove the rack. I ended up using my old Thule 725 with a special kit to fit the H3 crossrail. It was much cheaper .

The H3 Ski Racks are actually made by Thule with Hummer Logo. The only difference was that they have special mounting bolts for the cross rail. Where the Thule models do not have this kit.

I'm probably just going to keep the ski rack in year round. In the summer it will transport a wake board and maybe a surfboard too if it will fit.

Thanks for the information.
