so when i went to get the tires rotated, the tech drives the truck out of the garage and says " when u put on these oversize tires like this, you will ruin the wheel bearings and that will be a 700$ and some odd dollar repair" is there any truth to this? and i would imagine they will try to void the warranty on it as well, has anybody had problems with this while running 37in tires or bigger?

Not the bearings, maybe the steering components. The only way your bearings are affected are if the wheels are the wrong offset. If they are centered over the hub/bearing, no problem. Larger tires will multiply the forces on the steering, much like using a cheater bar provides more force the longer it is. Leverage at work.

I think larger tires could put a little more stress on the wheel bearings but nothing to ever worry about. Here's some info. I just put a new wheel bearing on the front of my h2. Hummer dealer price for bearing was $300.12 , Napa auto parts $319.00 , Internet search found new wheel bearing O.E.M never used $99.00 including shipping.

Larger tires definetly puts more stress on front end components as well as the wheel bearings.

I agree I have not seen any worn out due to tire size changes and I work on them every day. GM could deny warranty on them but most dealers would not, providing your not lifted with 40" or bigger tires. We have probably installed 30 or more sets of 20 and 22" wheels and tires in the last year with no problems other than slightly accellerated wear on idler, pitman and tie rods.
