adding an amplifier to the Monsoon sound system - where to connect
Where is the stock amp located? Does it have an RCA output on it?
If not, where can I find a wiring diagram to tell me which speaker wires are which colors?
Thanks!

The amp is in the driver side rear panel next to the sub.
Not a stereo guy so can't answer the rest.

So it is easily accessible? I don't even have my H3 yet (this weekend) but I want to be prepared
I CAN'T WAIT by the way

Can't say for sure since I've never removed mine, but I'm guessing its probably pretty easy to remove the panel.

Pull away the top panel slightly, then pull the bottom panel away from the vehicle. Make sure to lower the rear seat back. It can be tricky getting it out with the rear seat still in place, but not impossible.
Remove the rear seat does make it a lot easier.
Upon installation, just pop all the fasteners back into place and don't forget to place the outer sealing strip back over the back edge of the molding.

Thanks! Is there by any chance an RCA pre-out on that amp? If not, do you know where I could find a list or diagram of the wiring back there?

I would say that there is next to no chance of any pre-out since it is a factory amp. I know I came across a wiring color code a while back, let me see if I can find it.

Oem amps never have any rca outs on them; you will need to grab sets of speaker outputs from the Monsoon amp and run those into a high to low level converter. I would recommend the Soundgate LOC1.

Yeah I figured, but didn't know what you might find in these new cars
I have a level converter already, just need to know the wiring color codes for which wires to tap into

Re: adding an amplifier to the Monsoon sound system - where to connect
Klint, there is nothing to figure out!! lol Tap into any of the speaker leads with a high to low converter for signal, any ignition lead for turn on, and a 12v battery lead and you are good to go.

What is a low to high converter?
