A lot of us have been modifing our headlights and I know we discussed this before about illuminating both filaments of a dual filament headlamp bulb. Our main concern in the inital discussion was that the stock headlight circuit would not handle extra current or the plastic light housing would not handle the extra heat created when both filaments were illuminated.

I recently upgraded my headlights to Cibie E-Codes and a wire harness that can handle the extra wattage of bigger bulbs. I asked the same question about illuminating both filaments at the sametime to lighting expert Daniel Stern and this was his e-mail reply to me:

You definitely *NEVER* want to run both filaments of *any* dual-filament
headlamp bulb at the same time. Very unsafe. Bulb can explode!

Just thought I would pass along his warning.

Don,

I upgraded to the Philips 90/100w H-4 bulbs from Candlepower 55/60W. Lots of light, and no need to burn both filaments.

Cibie's just produce better lighting than stock.

You should check out the Cibie Oscar SC cornering beams and the Oscar SC driving beams, they also far better than the stock brush lights.
