Anyone who would put a fake winch on their Hummer has to be the lamest person I would ever meet

As long as it is real it's a pretty slick looking unit.

Interesting pics. Wish they were bigger so we could see how its mounted more clearly. I would say its real. It would be a shame to go to that much work and not have a functional winch.

A few things I noticed are:

1) Looks like the line spools from the topside of the drum and the clutch lever is on the passengerside of the truck. It must be mounted upsidedown (feet up) and the clutch assy re-indexed to make it face properly. You could mount the winch feet up as long as the motor/ brake assy. still rotate the same direction as they did stock.

2) It appears as it compromises the approach angle to some degree. The winch mount hangs as low as the bottom of the tow hooks although it does angle back alittle. There insn't that much clearance there to begin with, you definitely don't want to loose anymore ground clearance.

3) They need to tweak the torsion bars some to compensate for the added weight of the winch and mount. Looks like the truck really sits low in front. Look at the clearance between the top of the tire and front wheel arch. Raise the T-bars and realign the front end.

Got an email from the owner of this H3 saying that the winch IS REAL.

I don't have details yet but will be getting them for you soon.

That winch would look sharp with a 4" lift on the truck. No clearance issues then. It's the best looking one I've seen yet.

Please post when you find out more Rob.

Please get the info. This is the winch I have been looking for. It fits nicely and it looks like it doesn't require the brush guard for a mount! I'd like to know what the specs are!

Please post a link when you can!

Fake winch, fake louvers on the hood. I don't like anything fake on my rig.

The winch is real. Its a Ramsey profile Patriot 8000. The mount is custom made by the H3 owners father.

I am trying to get more details on the winch and the mount. The owner is going to take pictures for us and I'm going to see if I can get in direct contact with the builder.

I have to say that is a nice set-up. I'm trying to be patience in waiting for the right mount before I take the plunge.

Here is a more detailed shot. The winch assembly was modeled on the now-bankrupt SMA design.

Copied from SMA design:

I hope to have more info soon.

Is that nylon line on the winch? I think I'd rather have steel...

You guys probably are familiar with this set up by now... but here is the link in case you dont have it - does not change the OEM approach angle of the truck - Mark has this set up on his truck, you can find it on the boards:

http://trailduty.com/products/doi/index.html
(Defelice Offroad Innovations H3 integrated winch mount.)

And Mark had his kit w/ Warn Winch from hummersolutions.com

Hummersolutions is in the Bay Area and TrailDuty is in Texas, so probably not.

But I'll bet you could find a local shop that would do it for you.
