the Wrangler is gone...
Got rid of the wrangler.............
Got a 2004 Grand Cherokee for my next project. Low miles, nice ride, and soon to be built.........
Just thought I'd share. Was sad to see the little guy go but I needed something bigger for all of my gear, family, and dogs.....

Re: the Wrangler is gone...
04 GCs I've always liked. Noice looking rigs. It's going to take alot to get it trail worthy like the YJ though.
And a hell of alot more to get it up to the H2's ability.
But for now in it's stock form, atleast you can wheel with the H3s.

Re: the Wrangler is gone...
I've got a good idea of what I am going to do with it. Looking to run around 4 inches of lift and 32/33's.........
Lots to look at obviously because of the Jeep aftermarket but I plan on doing this one up nice and every bit as trail worthy as my TJ was.....I hope...
I knew what I wanted and got the exact jeep with the exact tranny/t-case/and motor I was looking for.
It came with brand new tires so I'm going spend the winter purchasing parts, driving it stock, and then starting the build up next spring...

Re: the Wrangler is gone...
KOR Ultimate 4 inch Lift Kit:
Includes high-quality adjustable control arms for ability to run larger tires
Extended brake lines not needed (no bleeding of the brakes)
Your choice of HIGH QUALITY Extended-length shocks
Four 4" inch taller premium replacement coil springs
Extended A-arm spacer for rear upper control arm
Safely fit 265/70R16 tires without trimming
Fit up to 265/85 tires with minor trimming
Extended-length rear sway bar end links
Includes Adjustable Front Track Bar
Retains 85% stock ride quality
Optional bump stop extensions
Optional TeraFlex or JKS Quick Disconnects
Optional Spacers for front lower Control Arms
I'll run equivalent to 32 inch tires, have it armored, and will have it locked up. Should be plenty for me for now.........
I plan on doing some custom sliders from someone local that builds them for the WJ's......Very nice stuff and very strong.
I dont want to put any type of aftermarket bumper on the front as I dont want to add the weight but I will do some soft of aftermarket rear bumper.
Con-Fer Rack on the top, lights, and................who knows what else...

Re: the Wrangler is gone...
Just buy a used H2.
I know how satisfying it can be to build something up with your own hands. Sounds like a year long project.

What! You bought a regular yuppie SUV that you're going to wheel? You sound like, ummm, a Hummer owner.
What mods are you going to make?

Re: the Wrangler is gone...
I've owned 4 GCs, but never wheeled any of them. I had a 1996, 2000, 2001, and 2002.
I never really liked the re-designs of the body/interior after the 1999 model. The interior is too closed in. To this day I wish I still had the '96.
I worked with a guy who had modded GC - front/rear lockers, 35s, the works. He did BTR and Pritchett in Moab without any problems.

Compliments of DRTY.
I don't think he's saying anything. I think he's chewing gum.

Here is what I plan on having done by next spring......
Lift Completed (4 inch)
New Tires (32/33 Inch)
Custom Sliders
Con-Fer Roof Rack
Perma Cool Transmission Filter and Cooler
Addco 1" Rear Sway Bar
Soon After this I plan on:
Regear to 4:10 front and rear
K&N FIPK and Gibson SS Exhaust
PFC Carbon Metallic Pads and Summit Racing Slotted and Cross Drilled Rotors all 4 corners
Hi-Flow Cat Converter
It has the DANA 35 rear so I will upgrade it to a super35 with electric OX-Locker in the rear. No need to swap the axle unless I was going with 35's or larger in my case. I'll keep the front open for now unless I decide to throw an Aussie Locker in..........
I will wheel the **** out of the stock rims until I am forced to go out and get some new one's..............
____________________
I'm also looking into a Jet Chip (Stage Two) as in 2004 Jeep changed the PCM Control Mod to work with the Jet Chips and not reset to stock calibrations..............

I'm fairly familiar with them myself as my Father has an 02, My mother has on 06, my Nephew has a 2000 WJ, and my other Nephew has an 03 WJ....
The 2003 and 2004 took a hit on the interior for sure. They also got rid of a few small things that I wish they would have kept from the previous 02 and earlier models. Although I wanted something as new as I could get and wanted it to have full axles front and rear........hence the 04 and not a newer Grand..........
I like the interior of mine, it's comfy and has plenty room. But remember I've also been driving a Wrangler for a few years so any damn car would be more comfy in my opinion.

Re: the Wrangler is gone...
Thanks! I had a lot of fun building it up and making it the way I wanted it. But in hind sight I wished I had just bought a H2. lol I put so much money in that thing. The only thing left that was stock was the uni-body.
I will say though that the Clayton Long Arms are the best long arm kits by far and unless you are an expert at fabricaiton you cant touch his design. There is alot of cutting and welding to get it on, however it articulates like nothing else on the market that is pre-built.

Here is a look at the Clayton long arms. They are very beefy.
