Default Hypertech Programmer

I want to get a Hypertech Programmer for my 2003 H2, which model number do I need 30019 or 30022 or can I use either one?

I know this question is a repost but if there is a better programmer out there for the H2, I am open to suggestions.

The DiAblo is nice in that there are people who can make slightly custom tunes and you can then download them into the programmer.

The Diablo is selling for $349 right now on sale. Are there any advantages from one to the other? I know you can download into the Diablo but other than that is there something else I should be looking for?

I just saw quick look in magazine but Hypertech has one that You mount and run Your rig and then it will do 0 to 60, 1/4 mile but also can be set to record G Force some stuff that would help off roaders. It also costs allot more. I think it was $700.
I run Hypertech in My 99 Silverado and with just tuning and the regular exterior mods and We have 375HP at the ground. But, I have also electric fans. I have HPTUNERS for the 99 now and will be messing with it to tune truck now.

I recommend anyone look at HPTUNERS even though You have to scan and use laptop to tune but, the owner has a stock firebird that pulls front wheels and runs 119MPH and10.97 seconds in 1/4. He did it with stock engine because he wanted people to see how a good tune on a stock car can make. He holds records on stock naturally aspirated engine.
But, MSD that owns Superchips cut a deal with HPTUNERS to rewrite the tunes for them and in turn they got code to right Ford and Dodge programs for the laptop system.

The software deal is not hard to learn. They keep a person moderating there forum all the time to answer questions about trouble a person is having. Allot of the time Keith the owner will be moderating. They are in such good position they do not need to do anyting more to promote software but, they go to SEMA and keep moderators that will join in discussion to help a person.

I'm proud for them to be My sponsor. They are going to be with me to help with tuning when I see if i can catch some speed records or at least make some top speed classes. It is very benefitial to use a real hands on tuner You really get to understand how the the fuel curves work etc.

If You are buying a regular tuner I would look ay Diablo because they do allow more tweaking than the others. I'm not sure whe HPTUNERS tuning will show up in the Superchips but, I think it will be after the first of year.

I do not sell HP but, if you have some questions i would be happy to answer.

I purchased the Diablo for my 06 GT Mustang and was pretty impressed. I also lived on the Mustang forums and everyone spoke of custom tunes that are specifically setup for your setup (i.e. Cold Air Intake, Exhaust installed). If you look at some of the programmers they specifically state that they do not take into consideration these types of mods. My 06 SUT is itching for programming and I was FLABBERGASTED that a dealership wanted $1450 for the tuning and programmer. When I told the dealership about my experience with tuners, he just related that "their guy used to work for the folks that originated the H2 factory computers". Still! $1450 is an outrage for a programmer that is $400. For $1050 I would expect my SUT to 'pull the front wheels!'...Oh well, off my soap box....If anyone has purchased a programmer and has a custom tune for an '06 SUT with Cold Air Intake, and Exhaust, please share...

What kinds of real world measured gains are you guys seeing with reprogramming?

I campaigned a bracket car for a few years so I'm used to seeing results measured in 1/4 mile times and have a good idea what it takes to see real improvement.

Dyno HP ratings and wheel measured HP ratings are entirely different things, markerters like to tout a 32 hp increase but it's only at a specific point on the output curve. Real world measured at the rear wheels is more like 7 hp.

Has anyone done 1/4 mile times in an H2 before and after programming? Has anyone logged H2 mileage before and after?

I'm not knocking the programmers but I wonder how much performance gain is psychological and what can be measured?

I was all set to pull the trigger on a Hypertech unit.
Until I saw the note that the maximum size tire you can program in is 33" if you have traction control.
Might have to think about this a little more.

33"s are your sure?! I have heard the HT III goes up to 37". Can anyone confirm? This could be kind of important since I am running 37x13.50x18 Toyo MT's

Sure looks like it.
Look at the fine print on the bottom of the dyno chart.
Might not hurt to call them and confirm it though.

The HT III does go up to 37"....I have one and have programmed it for 37s.

It makes the truck run better. It is noticable. Between the programmer and 37s my mileage went from 13.1 down to 12.1

2-3 +5mph
3-4 +6mph

Start there and see how you like
i run mine and the low octane setting

What are you getting for gas mileage with these ?
I was thinking
1-2 -1mph
2-3 -2mph
3-4 -3mph
I'm going on a trip and looking for better mileage ?

If you're looking for better mpg then you probably do not want to change the shift points to later (+1, +3, etc), because that would let the engine run at higher RPMs longer before shifting.
