I was washing my H2 this morning when I noticed that it has a slight lean to the drivers side. Now I know I'm over weight but even when I'm out of the truck? HAHA! Ok. The drivers side rear is about a quarter of an inch lower than the passenger side rear. In the front about the same. Is this normal? Is it made to do that? I checked the rear air ride, it goes up and down with the same difference with both. I also checked the tires,all have 40psi. Could some of you check your H2's and see if it's the same or do I have to go back to the dealer again...Thanks! BIG-C

I measured my Hummer, from ground to the lower edge of rear trunk door window is 54.5", the horizontal line extends to both side of the Hummer on the rear quarter panels. Exact even height on both sides.

Sounds like the drivers side torsion bar may need a turn or two. One full turn on the adjustment bolt equals approximately 1/4" ride height, up or down. The dealer can re-adjust the "Z" height and align if necessary or you can use a 3/4"or 18mm socket wrench and make the adjustment. One or two turns probably will bring it where it was originally. Always measure from the frame rails, body panels are not equal side-to-side. It helps to have 1/2 tank of fuel.

Several of the H2s I've checked, have very little room for adjustment and they're all different.Some have more adjustment travel on drivers side, and some have more adjustment available on passenager side. I ask the dealer why, but they don't have an answer.

Then again, the problem may be the rear suspension.

Or maybe the H2 is compinsating for a Discovery's right side lean.

Actually 1/4 inch lower on driverside is pretty close.

Take into consideration the crown in the highway and the effect of engine torque acting on the frame and suspension and I'll bet your H2 is level going down the road. I do know that on my coil suspension there are different rear springs on the right and left rear and the shop manual warns against installing the wrong spring if relpacing one. I would also believe that the same would hold true for air spring, or a different ride height setting to compensate for torque and crown.

Circuit Guy how accurate is the floor u are checking the measurements from?
My garages all have the floor 1" lower in center than the outside so everything goes to the drain.
In concrete work +/- 1/4" is pretty good for flatness.

Floor is level,half tank of gas inside over weight driver out side and it's still leaning to the drivers side about 1/4 inch. Mabey the torsion bars need cranking,I know that will change the rear height a little. The rear bags are working great up and down. Mabey it should be like that for the crown in the road. I don't know...I'm just a little upset about another problem with the H2. I don't care for the trips to the dealer all the time. C

I have experienced the exact same problem that you describe. I took it to my local dealer and they replaced something...but it still leans....sometimes up to 3/4" ! As you stated, when the vehicle is running and the doors closed, the compresser levels the vehicle so I'm certain that it's level driving down the road...but when it's parked......it seems to lean or "leak down". I'm very interested to follow this thread to see where it goes !

I did not measure the bumper height because bumpers are attachments, especially the plastic bumper parts, subjected to minor imperfections due to the fittings. My focus is on the level of the body not minor points of the plastuc bumpers. I measured the body of the Hummer at the exact same horizontal points, as stated in my presvious post in this topic. Both points are exactly 54.5" from ground, which proves my Hummer is perfectly leveled.

No, it is not just his BADRAP. I have/had the same issue. When you are parked flat and walk up to the H2, mine also appeared to be leaning or sagging on one side.

To fix the problem, I have moved the rear sensor levers to compensate for the problem. Worked perfectly. In fact, I didn't really care for the rake the H2 came with from the factory and moved them both to level out the back as well.

The air bags are going to be interesting to watch long term to see how they hold up. I have been screwing around with mine to get it level for a few months off and on.

I don't let my dealer solve these types of problems because they have no solution but to keep replacing everything.

Ok. I spent a day at the dealer so to check on the problem I have been having. They said that there is a new software download that they had to install to fix the problem with the rear air ride being unlevel. So I trust that it is was fixed "I just wanted to get home asap!" I took the truck after five hours waiting and drove home. The next day I notice the same lean on the drivers side. ITS STILL LEANING! At this point I do not wish to spend another day at the dealer for a problem they do not know how to fix. I am going to take Badrap's advice and adjust the torshon bars up front to level out the truck. I will let everyone know the outcome to this problem soon. Thanks to all that replied to this thread as every bit of info helps. BIG-C
