I was having a wobble in my front end after an alignment was done on my H1, I brought it in for other matters and asked for them to look at it. Because of the cambre being off the tires wore quite unevenly and I was told that they are on 12 week back order because of the Iraq conflict. Does anyone know who has these in stock? How about a gaurantee from Goodyear? The tires had only 12,000 mile on them. Is this part of being an owner or is this a tire issue?

If you just bought your truck and the alignment was out they should provide you with new tires. It's not your fault. It is difficult however, to get things like this approved by AMG unless you know someone. My MTR's are so chewed up from the trails. I will be looking for PJ Dirt Grips next time. I've only heard good things about them.
BTW, all h1's are out of alignment from the factory.

You can even tell in a pic how the rocks out here chew them up:

My center row will have three normal wear treads and will have 2-3 treads that are 1/8" lower than the others. I off-road in sand, water and mud predominantly and the tread is not chewed yet, not unitl June at least. I will pursue it with the dealer, they treat me like gold.

They should treat you like gold. You bought a 100k vehicle. If they don't go somewhere else.

Jason,
I can't believe how worn your tires are. How many miles?
What is the PJ Dirt Grip and where do you find them?
Thanks,
John

John,
16K miles but lots of harsh rock out here. The rocks are very sharp, the desert is unforgiving, never any water or mud to smooth things out. They're even worse now because I went back to the desert yesterday. I'm waiting for pics from a buddy because I forgot my camera.
I'm not sure about where to get PJ's but I'll probably ask a friend of mine that uses them. I've only heard great things about their performance. I might even go slightly larger.
Are you in the market too?

I agree that they sure are up there in price. In the end I guess it really matters if they will do the job you want them to and hold up long enough to get your moneys worth out of them.
From what I see you aren't gonna get that out of your current tires at the rate you are gnawing away at them. But you could almost buy 2 sets of MTR's for what you will pay for 1 set of these. Assuming the president will get a set of MTR's for you that is since nobody else can.

I'm running the dirt grips. So far they are holding up well and they are awesome off road. Rock or Mud. Great traction and they really set the truck off compared to the GSA's.

I got mine from National Tire and Wheel

also Desert Rat sells them.
They are not cheap but they are in line with the hard core off road tires like the swampers.

Hey Joe, can you please post a pic of your H1 with the PJ's on? This would be very helpful.
Thanks,
Jason

Not in the market right now, but like to keep up with my options for when the time comes. My MTR's have 12k on them, and are holding up pretty well.
The PJ's look like a great alternative though.

I paid 375.00 a tire at the dealership. A killer price when you see how much they can cost on some of the online sites. They are great tires, cant wait to get them off road, and they have a very nice road ride.

Jason,
Here is one of the pics of my truck with the pj's on it. If your going to be needing new tires soon I HIGHLY recommed the Pj's, they are expensive but they are awesome. I am running the 37.x12.5x16.5 and am very happy with that size, the larger size is a very nice tire but you will get more life out of the stock size, they cost less, and they fill the wheel well out much better the the stock tires, if you want that beefy look of larger tires you will get it with the stock size Pj.
