Default Question on starter for H1.

I have a 2000 H1 and it has been giving me trouble starting when the engine is warm. I took it to he hummer dealer and they told me it needed a new starter and both batterys. They wanted over $1,200 for a new starter, and the batterys in the truck are both 3 month old acdelco 750 cold cranking amp batterys. so i think they are trying to screw me. Does any one know if a stock chevy 6.5 starter will work in the H1? Or where i can get a good price on another hummer starter? Thanks.

You can use a GM starter if you want. Thats what I did, NAPA with a lifetime replacement warrenty. As for the batteries, take them somewhere else, like a parts store and have them load tested.

There are shops that will rebuild starters for reasonable costs; ask around at your local garages. You can usually get your starter reman'd for around $150-$250.
