H2 FIREWALL GROMMET CB CABLE INSTALLATION TOOL XZ9000!
I finally routed my CB antenna cable permanently. I followed the license plate light through the rear bumper, and then followed the driver's side frame rail and up the firewall to the infamous Grommet.
The cable off the antenna was not long enough, so I got a 6' extension. The problem with this was the female plug on the extension did not disassemble like the one on the antenna. So, it was sort of large to try and fit through the grommet. I tried a few things, and then came up with my new invention which I will be patenting. Meet the all new "H2 FIREWALL GROMMET CB CABLE INSTALLATION TOOL XZ9000!"
I took a wood dowel, drilled a hole in the center so the prong in the plug would go in it. Then I turned down the base till it fit inside the female collar.
Then I turned it down to a nice tapered point, leaving the shoulder as wide as the collar of the plug. Then I made a groove down the side of it.
I tied a string to the cable which went through the groove cut in the "H2 FIREWALL GROMMET CB CABLE INSTALLATION TOOL XZ9000."
Then wrapped with electrical ta-, er, I mean finished assembling with the special purpose low friction flex wrap.
I then used a piece of coat hanger to thread the string through the grommet. I coated the tool with dish soa-, er, I mean proprietary H2 FIREWALL GROMMET LUBE, and had my wife pull from inside while I fed it in from outside. It practically fell right through slick as a whistle! Wish I would have started with this tool! I had already spent a good half hour trying other methods. :Yippee::Yippee::Yippee:
