I am going to upgrade my tie rods and probably get the cognito steering support kit so when my all terrains wear out, I can upgrade to 37" BFG mud terrains and not worry about my steering getting fubared. Has anyone tried the cognito tie rod replacement kit? They use Heim joints which some people swear by and others say dont last very long. Any opinions or experience with the kit? or shoud I just go with the fabtech TRE's?

We had the Fabs on our last truck and felt very confident with them.

I've got heim joints on a blown, tubbed bigblocked S10. I have had to replace the heim joints several times. I realize that they make different strength ones but I'm not particularily a fan of that design.
The problem is the H2's tires are bigger, will grab harder and if you go off-road, are subjected to more stress.
If you've ever looked at the Fabtech kit, they are absolutely the beefiest tierod ends I have ever seen.
I personally would go with the Fabtech...

I would like to say that I took my truck in to get a few thinks done. Told them to check and to align if needed it. This is after the 26hour drive to and from Moab, doing all of the stuff we did in Moab, doing some minor stuff around here and after putting on the Cognito supports this week.
No need for an alignment. I was shocked that I didn't not need an alignment after Moab. Perfectly even tire wear also.
I attribute much of that to the Fabtech tie rod ends.

I'll order the fabtechs. I am already starting to feel some wandering at 13,500 miles I think mostly becase I do wheel it as often as possible. Thanks.

Heim is a oht set up, but I would not suggest them for off road use. There is no protection for the inners getting dirt directly on them.

When building link suspensions all you find for any actual articulation are heims and cartridge joints. Under fullsizes the cartridge joints wear out the plastic races fast, but the heims hold up.
Of course they will wear faster than tie-rods, but the factory units they put under the HD trucks and the H2 are just sad in size.
Ive never seen a NBS knuckle up close, but I wonder if there's enough material to ream it out to fit a solid axle 7/8" GM tie-rod end?
