Squeak Noise When Window Is Raised (Adjust Window) #03-08-64-008 - (03/20/2003)
Squeak Noise When Window Is Raised (Adjust Window)
2003 HUMMER H2

Condition
Some customers may comment on a squeak or creak noise when a window is raised. This condition may occur on any door.

Cause
Contact between the window and the window guide blocks may cause this condition.

Correction
Technicians are to adjust the window to bring it into tighter contact with the nylon window blocks using the following procedure.

1. Try to verify the customer concern. The window may need to be cycled up and down ten times to reproduce the noise.

2. Remove the door trim panel from the door. Refer to the Trim Panel Replacement procedure in SI (document ID #864204 for the front door, document ID #864236 for the rear door).

3. Remove the water deflector from the door. Refer to the Water Deflector Replacement procedure in SI (document ID #841633 for the front door, document ID #841629 for the rear door).

4. Loosen the two window clamp nuts on the window module.

5. Start the engine and lower the window all the way down and then raise the window back to the full up position.

6. Tighten the window clamp nuts.

7. Lower and raise the window again to verify that the noise has been eliminated.

8. Turn the ignition off.

9. Reinstall the water deflector. Refer to the Water Deflector Replacement procedure in SI (document ID #841633 for the front door, document ID #841629 for the rear door).

10. Reinstall the door trim panel. Refer to the Trim Panel Replacement procedure in SI (document ID #864204 for the front door, document ID #864236 for the rear door).

11. Repeat this procedure on any other door that may have this condition.
