Default Sewell Hummer Trek ? 09/07

Be Advised: The graphic images above were blatantly and unremorsefullly
stolen from Sewell and HummerGuy.net

September 22 & 23 2007

Sewell went above and beyond for it?s paying customers once again.

This was a two day event, held @ the Tonkaway Cattle/Game ranch in College Station Tx.

http://www.tonkaway.com/

Tonkaway Ranch, consisting of 2400 continuous acres of Post Oak Savannah, is a working
cattle ranch and wing shooting paradise located in Central Texas along the Navasota River.
It is owned and operated by the Kacal family.

Tonkaway Lake is a natural spring fed lake, and is one of many lakes on the ranch that is home
to a well managed Florida/Kansas hybrid Black Bass population and variety of wildlife including
white tail deer, water fowl, red tail and red shoulder hawks, wild hogs, bobcats, woodcocks,
and many other species. Tonkaway Ranch is bordered on the east by the Navasota River and
on the west by Carter Creek The Ranch was once home to a tribe of Tonkawa Indians.

Attendance was very good with 30 to 40 Hummers and around 80 or so people.

3 courses were set up: The River Bottom, The 300 and The Panhandle.

Enjoy.

Finally:

I wish I could take all the credit for these photos, but I can't. Some are mine, some are from
other participants, some I stole from the Sewell photographer's site. All I did was try to arrange them
in such a way that you guys would have a feel for the days events.

I've been to both Sewell events this year (see my Rough Creek thread from a few months back also) and have
to say, they have far exceeded my expectations. These guys know how to put on a class event. They
picked up the tab for dinner, breakfast and lunch (and we aren't talking dogs and sliders here either)...
Almost everything.......All we spent was gas and lodging.

Also.....Let me give these guys a few props for their handling of various mechanical breakdowns.

We had:

1 H3 - Accidental airbag deployment on the moguls

1 H3 -Tranny problem (bent some linkage going over a log the wrong way)

1 H2 / 4+ H3's - Multiple alternator failures (4 that I have personal knowledge of, more reported....swamped with mud and water)

1 H2 - Failed control system for brakes and steering--Sorry, I'm not to familiar with an H2's systems, so I may have the terminology wrong.

If they couldn't fix you on the spot, they got you and your ride back to Dallas and had a loaner waiting on you when you got there.

I personally had an overheating problem with the engine and some shifting issues when tranny got a little warm....

(It all seemed to clear up when I washed out the radiator fins......and about 200 lbs of mud from the under carriage)

NICE, Looks like a good time to me! Maybe a Colorado dealer will pull its head out of it's ass sometime and put on an event like that....

This trip was light as far as numbers go.

I believe we had over 100 Hummers on the Glen Rose / Rough Creek trip back on Father?s Day.

Link to that trip: http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=28088

As for the looks, they are priceless???.

You could almost hear Carl Orff?s Carmina Burana-O Fortuna blaring in the background as we rolled down the road?

Mostly smiles and stares from the locals?..

H1?s are almost never seen in the wild around here??.(At least that has been my experience)

Glad you enjoyed them.......

When I get a bit of time, I'll post up some of the splash shots from the mud pit. Some of those are pretty cool.....and they explain why we had so many
alternators go tits up......
