Default AC compressor threw a bearing i think..

so this weekend it started hearing noise from the engine compartment.
tonight, i tried tracking it down, but still dont have a clue. the general area seems to come from the AC compressor area.

i thought maybe the serp belt was going out, or was sqealing, but after some belt conditioner, and WD40 in some areas, A. it got louder and B still no clue..

im not 100% its the AC.
at idle, i hear nothing but the normal engine.
raise the RPMs to 700 to 1000 and i get "chrips"
raise the RPMs from there and the chirping gets faster till its sounds like a sqeak.

if it is teh AC compressor.. anyone replace thiers? DYI or mechanic? costs?

Default Re: AC compressor threw a bearing i think..

well dodges the bullet on this one today.

took the day off to replace and troubleshoot some issues.

i have not solved this problem, but i have ruled out the compressor.
i start by replacing the AC belt tensioner.
sound still there, so i removed the AC Serp belt... sound still there. -so that ruled out the AC causing the sound.

from there i replaced the Serp belt tensioner arm.
also replaced the idler pulley too.

sound is still there, but it narrows it down to the water pump or Alt.
both of which will be alot cheaper than the $1k for a new compessor and parts.

remove the belt and spin the accessories by hand, if you hear a chirp you found it
