Hey Cris - What did your fab guy say about clipping those corners? Nice pic by the way.

He said it'll add more to costs, and after walking around it for a few weeks I haven't come close to a thigh-bashing. That lip on front left & right may rise an inch to make the bend easier, we'll see...still a few weeks from production, but I'm gonna get at least 10 made, 'cause I know people can put it to good use.
When I'm closer I'll put it into For Sale section.
Here's one from straighter on...

Looking good. I will definitely be interested when you get the ten made. I know nothing about winches so this might be a stupid question but are you limited by brand on what winch you can mount on there?

Re: H3 winch mount
More importantly, are you limited to a particular brand of brush guard to which you can mount the winch mount?

Not a stupid question... most manufacturers use a standard bolt pattern of 10x4.5 inches to mount...and fairlead is standardized at 10"
So unless you get some Chinese winch or something, they should all fit.

Not sure about aftermarket brush guards, but I designed it to fit with my stock brush guard. This mount sandwiches behind the D-ring mounts, bolts are plenty long enough to use with brush guard in between there too.

Thanks! I looked at what Rough Country had on their rigs, and took everyone's suggestions into account.

LOL, then I will stay away from that Chinese model I was looking at
Thanks for the answer, that is what I figured. Any word on when some might be available? Put me on the list as I am very interested.

Hopefully within weeks!
Keep an eye on Classified section, I'll list them when they're done.

Re: H3 winch mount
Looks very sharp - I am skeptical about the mounting. up to 9,000 pounds of pulling presure What do you think Cris?

Don't quote me on this, but my father who is a retired mechanical engineer and I were talking about a very similar thing recently. He was throwing about some very impressive numbers for the strength of the bolts holding the D-Rings. I think somewhere in the neighborhood of 40-50K lbs - for each bolt!
Again, don't quote me on this. It was several weeks ago and I was keeping an eye on Reed at the same time... But if my memory is even partially correct there should be no issues.
EDIT -
We were talking about the bolts that mount the D-Ring assemblies to the frame, not the bolt that is integrated into the D-Ring itself. Also these numbers were about pulling on the bolt's head and threads, not shear.

I think it's stood up to my tests just fine! Pics below of pulling it out of some mud holes, saw some flex in the bracket but no bending at all. Used it to pull some bushes out of my sister's yard for her last week, had one that wouldn't budge...gave it all of that 9000 lbs, no bending!

Re: H3 winch mount
Cool - Thanks for the confirmation. I wonder about things like that - for example putting a portable winch on the back hitch. If the hitch is rated at 5,000 pounds pulling stregth would it hold up? I think it would be fine but I still wonder.
The front hitch on my H3 can probably pull 20,000 pounds it is very beefy (maybe over kill). I like your design much better than my front hitch design. It is higher and won't interfere with approach angles. Not that I have had any issues with approach angle but it is nice to take that out of the scenario.
How quickly could you loosen the winch nuts and just take the winch off? It would be nice to have the ability to quick disconnect the power and un-loosen some bolts and just store the winch in the garage for city driving etc.
What kinds of roof rack is that - it is very sharp also?
Thanks Cris.
