Are there any design plans for the H3? My dealer thought the H3 would be ready late 2003. Any idea what it will look like? I read somewhere that the price would be in the upper 30k range.

I was talking to an ex-GM academy trainer/tester and he thinks the smaller models are another GM mistake. He did not elaborate but stated that GM often starts with something good and then lets things go bad.
I don't really want to see any more "H" series. It will be like BMW. No longer an exclusive auto.
keep things like they are and perfect them. Then move on to other models after that.
Just my two cents.

I'm with you, Amy. Cranking out new models every year is going to eventually ruin the name. The SUT is a logical step for the H2 line, but coming out with an H3 so fast seems premature to say the least.

Jim and Amy,
I couldn't agree more. The H2 is the only "healthly" extension of Hummer and any smaller/weaker versions will only dilute the brand. We should start a petition.

I think the smaller H3 is intended to compete with Jeep and that is not the market segment GM should target with the Hummer nameplate. Let Chevrolet and GMC do battle with the "staple" brands.

I agree completely. If there is an H3, it needs to be a H2 with rear independent suspension like the concept.
(And a roof mounted M50?) hehe.

Wow looked at the pictures of the concept h3 and what a piece of crap. Look how long they stuck with the H1.If they move to a new format it will make for an excelent resale on the H2,if you can part with it.

GM DIDN'T BUY THE NAME NOT TO MAKE MONEY. THE H3 WILL BE DIFFRENT ENOUGH AND RADICAL TO PUSH IT INTO THE FEW THE PROUD REALM STILL. SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE NO CLUE WHAT H1 OR H2 IS OR CAN DO. IT WILL ONLY BUILD BRAND AWARENESS AND INCREASE THE VALUE OF YOUR H2. H3 BRING IT ON!

Welcome to the forum, Hummer Salesman. Glad to have representation not just from GM but for the dealership community on this forum. You're right that GM licensed the Hummer name to make $, but just how they execute will require an important stragic decision which is 1) continue with upscale versions of the H2 and maybe H1, like the SUT, and be the untouchable big fish in that market segement, or 2) also spread out into the the standard SUV market. While the jury is still out on this, I would argue that if GM goes for #2, they will face competition form Jeep, Land Rover etc. at the cost of diminishing the Hummer brand and becoming "soft" to those the brand appeals to.
But then again I wouldn't be surprised if GM goes for the H3 strategy, as, like you say, auto sales is at the end of the day the name of the game. I just hope they don't.

I thought that GM was considering calling the SUT the H3 at some point? The reason I may be a little off is because there have been a few references to an H4.
I don't care what GM does, as long as they hurry up on the SUT. However, IMHO, it would be a very big mistake to commonize the Hummer brand name by adding numerous models to the line. Three may be the limit that they can push this: H1, H2, and H2SUT.

The SUT is a variation of the H2 just open in the back (just like how the H1 has a wagon and opentop). The H3, if it gets approval, will be like the size of a Chevy Trailblazer. And if Hummer really goes down this path of smaller, mass-produced Hummers, there's prelimary talk of the H4 that will be something like the Jeep Liberty.

I forget where I read it, but I recently heard that the H3 was scheduled for an earlier release, but since GM is having its financial follies, they're pushing it back to 2005. I'm interested in seeing the production H3 before I make any judgments. I hated the H2 concept, but when I saw the production model, with only a few tweaks from the concept, I wanted one immediately. I would buy one to complement the H2 if we move to the burbs (ugh), and having 2 cars is a necessity.

Does it fly? or what is up with the front bumpers of that thing?
I think that it looks like something went wrong with the tranporter buffers.
