Hi all,
I'm brand new to these forums. I'm helping my dad with some research on the H3. He loves the car but I just wan't to see if the pros outweigh the cons. So far on the many trips i've taken with him to the Hummer dealerships of course i've heard all of the pros from the salespersons. I just wan't to hear from the owners now of the H3. I always do this with every car I myself, friends or family are about to purchase. It helps me to find out about defects and what not with the car. For example like the 350z has a huge problem with very quick tire wear. I found that out by asking on the 350z forums. Now i'm just asking if anyone can give me some information on the Hummer H3, your experience with it, problems with it, gripes, the things you love about it, etc. Thank you so much in advance for anyone who just read that and replies!

First of all, its a truck, not a car.

Second, I suggest you browse through the posts on here first and then come back with some questions on specific issues.

Me too!!! Great minds think alike. I also thought they should have built in more Playdough receptacles in the rear passenger area.

One thing I like about the H3 is that in Ohio, it is considered a car. When you get plates for it, it does fall under the car category. The same went for my Avalanche as well. So a few bucks saved there. Also, people will stare at you so if you don't like attention, the H3 is the wrong vehicle to get. I love my H3! Better gas mileage than my traded in Avalanche and a lot more easy to drive. I have no issues with the visibiltylike some people have mentioned. If you drive correctly, using your mirrors and such, it's fine. I'm used to knowing whats behind me before I back up. Only thing I wished it had is a little more room for hauling stuff. I miss that in that my Avalanche gave me 8 foot with the rear seats folded down. I think the H3 is about 5 feet. It's an all around awesome vehicle and I can't wait to test out the offroad capabilities this summer.

I am familiar with the 350Z widespread tire wear problem. The H3 has some relatively rare and isolated problems but none that are impacting a large percentage of the vehicles so far.

Drive it and see if you like it.

S.

Sorry that my fellow/fellah H-3ers are a little ambigious with their answers.

This might help.

Brake to close to gas, Power seat control(if U get Lux package) in a tight area to reach even with small hands. Power windows and power lock controls located to far back. YES limited storage even with back seat down. VISIBILITY is limited BUT with proper use of ALL mirrors, wide angle lens added to back window, maybe a cheap pair of those small outside wide angle mirrors the visibility improves to excellent (you can also add rear view camera for from $100 to $1000) There has been some MINOR problems with some of the various electronic modules but for the most part all solvable. I think I covered most if not all of the negatives.

Would I buy another H-3 (i now own two)

YES---IN A F--KING FLASH

Its probably the GREATEST vehicle I have ever owned (64 1/2 Mustang, 70 GTO convertible, 59 MGA Twin Cam, 58 Cadallic Huerst, TWO plymouth MiniVans, 98 Camry V-6, 1st year Mustang II, 3 different Harleys, Cushman Scooter, 58 Impala Tri Power) ONLY one I liked better was my 289 COBRA (U can't blame me on that)

Oh yeah, inside the passenger compartment it could use a few storage nooks for sunglasses and small stuff( the center consol is large but small items put in there tend to get lost with all the other small stuff)

I & I believe all here HIGHLY reccommend the H-3.

Hope this helped

RYD

I have gotten used to the window and door lock button location and they don't bother me at all anymore.

Welp he bought it, and my God do I love it!! He got it with the chrome and luxory package. Its a beauty! As mentioned by Yellow Ducky, the space for the power seat control is VERY tight and the brake is VERY close to the gas, also the dead pedal is kind of a funky. Other than that I love it as does he!
