Default Looking for exterior/interior cleaning advice

Now that I have my H3, I?m seeking some guidance/wisdom on cleaning it and maintaining it. In the past I?ve always just run my vehicles through any commercial carwash that I have come across without to much concern about what the end result will be. Well, I want to take better care of this vehicle. My intent is to hand wash, hand wax and do all the detail cleaning myself.

Since I don?t have any experience doing any hand washing/waxing, I?m looking for product recommendations and advice on techniques, etc.

Another concern I have is minimizing rust on the undercarriage and keeping the engine clean.

What say you Hummer fans????

what i do is i take it to a place to wash it, not just the one where you run your car through...they put it through the thing they have and then go over the whole car and clean anything that was missed... when i go offroading i just come back run it thorugh a BRUSHLESS ONE so it doesnt scratch when it rubs against the mud and what not, and that helps clean the under body....then i take it to the place where they wash it as well...i run it through the other first so it gets most off so they dont scratch it up...and every 3000 miles when i get an oil change they clean the engine compartment for me at HUMMER

I clean mine once a week at the high pressure car wash. Never use the scrub brush, because it scratches. I then dry the entire thing with a chamois before I leave, including inside the doors and the weatherstripping. If the engine needs it, I use the low pressure hose at home. (I also use the low pressure hose to clean the radiator fins). Inside I use a damp cloth for the dash, seats and door panels, and a detail brush for the switches. For things that get extremely dirty (steering wheel, entry plastic) I use a mild dishwashing soap or diluted 409. Works pretty well. Haven't had a chance to wax it yet and its killing me
