I've seen a few times on other Hummer sites comments about the Dealership getting reimbursed by GM when they accept a GMID b/c they could have made more $ if someone that didn't have a GMID bought it. Makes sense in theory, just wondering if anyone can confirm details on it? If they do, is it a certain % of the discount, is it a flat fee per make model, etc etc. Anyone have details / knowledge of this?

GM will return (credit to the dealer account) about 3% depending on the program. It is very little and most dealers don't care much to take it unless they just want to move units. After advertising and any dealer pack (built in profit) The salesman makes 50-150 dollars flat.
I hated selling at GMS or supplier. The only people taht make money on a purchase like that is finance or if you buy some accessories.

So the dealer still makes a pretty decent amount on the sale regardless of the boo-hoo act they pull when you mention GMID, cracks me up! They still get the difference between Invoice and GMID, the 3% holdback, and then 3-5% back from GM b/c of the GMID.

I guess here is example...

MSRP 38,115.00
GMID 34,871.10
Invoice 34,424.00

So Dealer will be getting $447.10 right off the start for difference of GMID and Invoice. Next they get $1143.45 for holdback (3% of MSRP). And then approx $162.19 (3-5% of the discount amount) b/c of taking the GMID. I would say that a Dealership making $1752.74 for someone just walking in saying you have an H3 with the VIN of "_______" , I would like to buy it is not all that bad at all!

And honestly with today's consumers, 9 out of 10 times the consumer knows 100% more about the vehicle and what's available than the people suppose to be "selling" them! $1752.74 is more than enough to make considering the days of "selling" cars are way over! How many of you actually had to be "sold" the truck, I'm safe guessing none. You walked in saying I want this one and they did paperwork.

Funny b/c they didn't even know they had the one I wanted! I had to tell them the stock #, VIN, and what it had on it! They didn't even know it was there and took near 30 mins to find it, sad!
