Default blinking side marker

front side marker is blinking when it should be on. Way expensive from the dealer. Any repair or cheaper replacement options?

Nope, there are no aftermarket and the units are sealed.

However, I could buy that bad one off of you and you could put that money towards a new marker

I've been wanting to experiment with our side markers but I can never find broken units to tear down.

Was thinking the same thing, If I could get it apart cleanly , I could get a bulb in there. Have they been LED since 2003? Never a bulb?

It is 2 LED's, I believe there are 2 SMD LED's on a PCB.

You can cut open the housing and replace the LED. I used a hack saw and went around the edges and popped it apart. Installed the new LED and super glued back together. LEDs are cheap. They were available from Radio Shack but they are going out of business.
So, http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a...lux-led/1.html

After doing the mod, you cant tell if from the OEM.

I cut my old side marker apart and never finished the job. I bought several high quality leds from radio shack and then bought a new side marker .I need to complete the project.

ok cut it open, swapped LED's , not working. Used all electronics cat#led-912, ref 1726889. any ideas? 12 volts to the leds verified. Wrong LEDS? They are soldered in per the schematic on the board.
Thanks

Just in case anyone reads this, all of my replacement red leds from allelectronics.com were bad. I put in 2 amber leds, they work fine. This is an 80 cent repair for the side markers! Just need to find a good supplier of the red leds.

There is an ebay seller where I bought all of my interior LED's when I fitted them to every light in the dash, doors, and center stack. Each type of LED is heat sealed in their own bags and labeled. Never had a problem with them. I'll see if I can track the sellers name down.

Sounds good thanks. Turns out mine are ok just reversed anode and cathode. So need to solder the reds in opposite the circuit board imprint. Dremmel works well to cut the reflector open. 80 cents !
