Unhappy Dealership=Ghost Town

I was at the dealer today getting my cracked roof rail replaced. There was no one looking at Hummers and there was only one other person there for service. I was there last June and the place was a madhouse. I hope gas prices and the economy don't force GM to drop Hummer.

That's funny...the wife and I stopped in to look at an Alpha. We were bombarded by a couple of guys that left us feeling as if we needed a shower. They never got our phone number though. They were trying to talk me into trading my 3 in and I kept saying "she wanted to look at an Alpha." Their hook was the back-up camera with the monitor in the rear view mirror. They never heard the "she makes more than me" and kept focusing on trying to sell me a vehicle! Piece of work!

Well, that's how it is here, too. There is no one on the Hummer lots. Even when we got the H2 end of February, we were the only ones looking. I don't see many '08 H3's or H2's on the road. One H3 passed me yesterday and the couple passing me almost fell out of their window waving to me. I guess becasue we both had '08's.

A note about the camera in the rearview mirror. In my opinion, that camera is overrated. I have it in the H2 and I don't depend on it. You have to remember that you have that big tire on the rear and the camera doesn't figure that in for you. You think you have a long way to go before you bump the vehicle behind you, but you don't! If I had my druthers <lol>, I'd opt for the HitchCam on the rear roof ABOVE the tire. On the H2 you can replace the rear center marker light with the camera. You can probably do something to put it there on an H3, too.

my dealership is just the definatelly not that slow here. We went in Saturday for an oil change and they said it would be a four hour wait. When we pulled up there were atleast 10 other hummers there. We went into the show room and there was only one sales office that did not have anybody in it. I guess it all depends on where you are at.

I was at my dealer after service and walked into the Hummer show room. It was a ghost town too. There was an X and an H2 in the show room

There was one guy at a desk in the office. I had to ask him to look at an Alpha H3.

He acted like he was doing me a favor and had a flunky go get the key so I could see the engine. I said I allready had an H3 and the GF bought a Corvette from the dealer.

I said you ought to have an Alpha in the showroom with the hood open and one out by the street so people could see it.

I'll probably go check out our delalership next week, just from curiosity and see if they have any good deals (which I doubt, they never seem to have any good deals in my town..). I however plan on trading-in once they get H3's with both lockers and V8.

That better be bullsh!t..............

It won't be just Hummer owners that will be ready to riot if that's the case!

If those Arabs in control, want to stay in control, that sh!t aint gonna happen soon.........

Our gas in the US is cheap compared to other places, if we are paying 10 bucks a gallon it would be 20 bucks overseas and 15-17 in Canada!

One of the reasons for our higher prices is because of the drop in the value of the dollar, in large part from the budget deficits we've been running up.

When buying oil on the world market our dollar is simply not worth what it used to be, as a result it takes a lot more dollars and will till the slide in the value of the dollar stops, according to he article.

I read a comparison where the price of oil versus Euros, has not made as drastic of a climb. Their high taxes on gas is also in part what drives their prices up.

I was at that dealership as well (Towbin Hummer) buying my 08 H3 a few weeks ago and while it was not totally dead in there it was no way as busy as it was in 06 when I bought my first Hummer.

Towbin Hummer in Vegas gave me a killer deal by the way and Im sure the drop in Hummer sales and high gas prices had something to do with it.
Anyone in Vegas want to buy a Hummer ask for Natalie or Phil at Towbin and tell em Davyo sent ya,, I think I get a free tank of gas or some cash for refuring anyone.

Me thinks Hummer dealerships everywhere are very eager to make a sale, "now" is a very good time to purchase a Hummer.

Cheers
Davyo

7-10 bucks? Poop! What about a Diesel in The H2? Tell me, I was reading a post for a H2 with an Allison and Diesel engine and they were saying 20+ MPG. Is that correct? How come the Chevy 2500's with the Alli and Diesel don't get that? OR do they?

My '02 Dmax 4x4 extracab longbed could get 23mpg on the highway. It rarely got below 19 empty. 16-17 with a trailer with the H3 and full of stuff.

Diesel's work. I wish the EPA goobs wouldn't have screwed the pooch and made diesel $5 a gallon!!!!!

I still think the 4.5 diesel would be the hot ticket!

Actually, I was in Lynch Hummer in Chesterfield having my Hummer serviced Thursday, and during the hour and half I was there I talked with one couple looking at a pre-owned, Hummer certified H3 & another man looking at an H2 who took it out for a test drive. As I left another younger male came in and was sittng in an Alpha in the showroom. The young couple was disappointed the 325 lease rate was only on the manual H3. We forget that there still are a lot of people out there that can't drive a manual, but it was far from a ghost town!

I'm new to these boards, so forgive me for the critique:

You are right on track with the devaluation of the dollar leading to higher gas prices, but with respect to the trade deficit - devalued currency actually lowers the nominal and (perhaps) real value of the trade deficit. Supply and demand of a particular currency will determine that currency's value.
