How is it intended to be activated? Does Eaton Suggest to wire it up to activate when in 4-low as with the OEM rear locker or are you to wire it up on it's own switch?
I can see some sorta small wire harness comes with it, but now sure what that is for?

If it's a non-OEM application, you wire it up to it's own switch and rely on Mark 1, Mod Zero methods to turn it off and on safely.
Many applications put a relay in between the switch and the E-Locker just in case.

You'll need an alignment before and after and during installation of any front locker.

The dealer wired and installed $1100 labor plus $300 worth of bearings. Locker was wired to it's own switch under my control. The switch that came with the e-locker was used. Dealer did not wire it to the rear elocker or T-case wiring. I've had one problem with it. It didn't unlock once, the light was off but it was still locked. I just cycled the switch and it came unlocked. I did run around a few days not knowing it was locked. I found out it was locked when mading a sharp turn and the front end hopped. H2 can still do 100 mph with it unlocked And yes I'd install it again. It will hop in the dirt also, to check if its unlocked. If I f... it up I will replace it.
A front locker cuts down on the number of times you use a winch or a tow strap.

You want the ability to turn it on and off independent of the rear.
I do understand it's easy to f'up a front locker if used improperly. Could anyone else elaborate on that?

After you overcome the obstacle, it is important to turn off the front locker for two reasons:
1) axle torque windup is bad, Mmmkay? Breaks stuff.
2) With the locker on you will increase your turning radius making it more difficult to make tight manuevers.
Also, don't use them on every obstacle, try to make it up using technique first, otherwise your line spotting skills deteriorate.
1) Line spotting
2) BTM technique
3) Lockers

Last time out in Moab I hardly used my locker. I also ran Hell's from start to finish in hi range just to make it different.
BTW the OEM rear locker does not activate automatically when in 4-low, you have to push the little round button with the axel icon on it </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Alec drives too fast for 4 low anyway.
Was that "Little round button" comment meant for me?

Thanks PhilD.
Driving around for almost a week didn't seem to harm the front locker at all. I caught it when I turned into burger king the front end hopped.

Phil, what's your reasoning for not having air suspension? Just like to get different opinions on this.
