Roof Marker Lights
I am going to replace my roof marker lights and I have some questions.
OK,
1) how do you get the lens off? I have one light out in the center three that are on the truck over cab, and saw a notch that was on the drivers side of the lights, so i used a flat head and pushed in on the notch and could feel something move like a tab but the lens doesnt want to release. is there another trick to it or something I am missing? I believe these are oem
2) which is the best smoked lens out there for the whole roof?
3) I am thinking about replacing with leds... what do you think?

Re: Roof Marker Lights
There's two ways, you can just pull them up lifting at the formed slot with your fingers.
Or you can put a small flat blade into the formed slot DO NOT PRY them up, that will damage the paint, just push toward the light with the flathead and it will release the clip and pull up as you push the screwdriver, there should be little to no resistance.
I could give it to you out of the Factory Manual, but it's fairly easy after you figure it out.

Re: Roof Marker Lights
Never done smoked lenses or leds, so I can't help you there, I personally like how it is.

Re: Roof Marker Lights
I've got a Pewter H2 Sut and I've always wanted to do the Clearance OEM to L.E.D swap. A lot of the L.E.D aftermarket lights will make our $60k rigs look cheap, but the PUTCO Ion chrome clearance lights look badass on my exterior color. I'm just hesitant to swap and then find out I'm getting roof leaks. I'm still trying to find out if I can buy OEM marker seals to use with the PUTCO's.

Re: Roof Marker Lights
Smithy,
I heard that a bead of clear silicon is the trick.
In fact, I have already replaced the interior because of a dumbazz move (left the sunroof open and it rain HARD that night), so I dont ever have to do that again.
I figure that once I fix the lights or replace them.... another bead is going around the lights. Better safe than sorry right?

Re: Roof Marker Lights
you can find new seals on ebay for both the corner markers and the center markers. I've never understood why so many leak. My only thinking is the front tabs on the corner lights could be broken allowing the front to raise and let water in.

Re: Roof Marker Lights
I'm sure that bead of silicone would work, but what do you do when you have to change out the bulb? Would you have to use a razor blade to free it from the roof? Ebay has the 4 corner marker gaskets for $45, I have yet to find the center gaskets.

Re: Roof Marker Lights
They're on there, I just saw them last night. I check ebay multiple times a day for H2 parts.
When I see them again I'll post the link for you.
