Just an update on installing XM in your H2:

If you are planning on using the Soundgate adapter (PIOGM1V3), you should know that the Pioneer GEX-P910XM tuner appears to be discontinued. See this link to Crutchfield:

The reason appears to be what XM is now doing. XM has partnered with Blitzsafe, another adapter maker that has a much better reputation then Soundgate. XM is selling a "package" that they call "XMDirect" which is the tuner and the adapter sold together. Right now, it is available for BMWs. The current thinking is that XMDirect for GM will be available in March or April.

XMDirect has the promise of working better than the Soundgate adapter. It should be more reliable, and might display more characters, etc.

The down side is that this is all the adapter will do, connect XM to your stereo. No CD changer or AUX input.

Anyway, if you are planning on buying the Pioneer GEX-P910XM and connect it to a Soundgate adapter, you might want to go ahead and buy one while you can.

Are there any plans for a "XMDirect" kit for 2003 GM trucks? I am looking to install XM Radio in my 2003 Hummer H2. Currently Soundgate makes an adapter (PIOGM1V2) to use Pioneer XM modules, but it has problems.

If so, any idea on a release date?

Yes there should be one for that also. You should be able to piggy back the two systems.

Blitz Safe Bows New SkyLink

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — Blitz Safe plans to release at CES this January, SkyLink Direct, a docking station for the Delphi XM SkyFi radio that allows it to work anywhere in the car and to be controlled from an OEM or aftermarket radio.
According to Blitz Safe, the SkyLink retains all of the SkyFi's scan and access functions, permitting them to be accessed from the user's current radio controls. The SkyLink also allows the SkyFi to be removed and replaced for transportability.

"If you have a SkyFi, now you have this big thing sitting on your dash destroying the ergonomics of your car. People want the factory look and they don't want to have clutter in the car. And it's a much safer environment," said Blitz Safe president/CEO Ira Marlowe.

The SkyFi is a leading XM Satellite Radio component.

Blitz Safe's SkyLink can mount in the trunk, under the seat, glove compartment and other locations. It comes with a cradle, a micro antenna and specific interfaces for various cars and radios. Suggested retail price is expected to fall in the neighborhood of $129, including the interface and antenna.
