H3 turns 100,000 miles
Talked with my son in Dillon, CO who has my H3 since just before I got my H2. The H3 was purchased in the spring of 2005. It just turned 100,000 miles last week and he still loves it but keeps looking at the Alphas. I think living at 8800 ft he wishes it had a little more power. Problems so far have been a drivers window lift motor replaced under warranty, cracked plastic roof trim under warranty, two windshields, high wear on the driver's side cloth seat, new brakes at 65,000 miles and new tires. No engine or drivetrain problems and this H3 has been on Mobil 1 synthetic since the second oil change. He told me he likes the Shadow Green Metallic color so much that if he gets a new one he's having it painted Shadow Green.

Its great to see our Rigs can make it past the 60k-70k mark and still be running strong. Glad to see you son really uses that H3.

That is interesting the I5 3.5 on that model is a fine engine and with decent maintenance is capable of much more according to other sources...
Yes the GM paint finishes are awesome on all the H3 colors!
Happy trails

Re: H3 turns 100,000 miles
Greetings All!
My H3 will be rolling 100,000 within the next couple of months. Is there any recommended services at this mileage, such as engine, transmission, and radiator flush, etc.? Shock or bushing replacements, etc.?
Thanks!
Chris

Re: H3 turns 100,000 miles
Been doing that but some GM and independent mechanics are advising against a couple of traditional services to include the transmission and radiator flush and fills. Also, I recently discovered the rear spring bushings had twisted. Upon replacement by GM, it was found the bushings were also rotted and one spring was completely broken at the front mount. I didn't see anything about those issues in the manual. *lol* The scary thing is I found the bushings issues after noting odd thumping and groaning sounds emanating from the suspension. Prior to that time, two independent mechanics as well as a GM mechanic couldn't locate the issue and the latter even went ad far as to blame the problem on "sound dud to aggressive tires". :O

Re: H3 turns 100,000 miles
UPDATE - My old H3, now my son's in Telluride, just turned 170,000 miles during our visit out there. It got a lot of miles when his wife was a nurse in Grand Junction going back and forth. He has replaced the radiator, belts, spark plugs, hoses, and exhaust piping on the H3, that's all that was engine related. Other maintenance included transmission flushes at 50k, 100k, and 150k, four sets of brakes (this vehicle operates in the mountains), two sets of shocks, two windshields, HVAC fan switch, one wheel and tire from a pot hole, and five sets of tires.

Re: H3 turns 100,000 miles
Many thanks! :-) Great to know that I can get a few more miles in on it. Just nothing else out there comparable...
