Default Head warranty

Hi all,

Been a long time since I've visited, please go easy on me !

I have an issue I'm looking for some advice on. I was one of the many who had the head go on my 2006 H3. It had 27K miles on it when it went bad and at the time I had GM reluctantly give me an extended warranty on the drivetrain to $100K miles. Well, as you can guess, the head went bad a second time after another 70K miles. It was recently repaired under the extended warranty with no cost to me.

With the head going twice in 70K miles, I contacted GM looking for them to extend the warranty further in case it goes a third time. Clearly this is an ongoing issue that I expect to rear it's ugly head again sometime in the future. Unfortunately the truck just passed the $100K mile mark so naturally, GM told me to pound salt on extending the warranty coverage on the head.

Here's my questions: Is there anything you guys think I can do to get GM to extend the warranty? Has anyone who also experienced getting the head replaced been provided with a lifetime warranty for the head ? Is it worth spending money on a lawyer to see if there is anything they could do?

Am I looking for too much on this and should just walk away ?

Seems like GM should be covering this issue no matter how many miles are on the truck.

Thanks all, any advice would be much appreciated !

If you have the time pursue. Since they discontinued the line and your out of contract. Sort of throwing yourself on the mercy of GM.
Given thier financial position it may be a uphill fight.

Good luck

Don't waste your money on a lawyer! GM has more lawyers and money than you can put together and they certainly won't simply respond positively because you had an attorney send them a letter.

Just hope that the recent head replacement is a long term solution!!!!

I agree, it's an uphill fight that would be very difficult, if not impossible to win. If you love your H3 you could just pay out of pocket at an independent garage (cheaper than dealer) if your head goes again, look for a lower mileage H3 (I've been seriously looking for another H3 to ad to my H2), or reengine. With gas prices up H3s are going for great prices. I looked at a 2008 H3 Monday with 20,600 miles on it for 19.9k with a clean carfax!

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, seems like it isn't worth wasting money on a lawyer, GM clearly wants nothing to do with it. GM certainly is not concerned with customer service and repeat purchases.
