the reason why I'm asking is because I bought a Hypertech Max Enegry Programmer...
12.5?!?!? I would love to get that I'm all stock right now and I'm getting only 10.9 a gallon

FINALLY! Someone who isn't lying about their gas mileage. My H2 would get 12.5 avg if you towed it 1/4 of the way... I am getting 10 even, but I have given up trying to drive for mpg. When I was trying for max MPG, I was getting 11 to 11.4...
I have gotten 14 on the highway, without wind, with the A/C on low and the cruise set on 60... But why? I now drive at 80 and enjoy it a lot more....
I am proud to get 10. to hell with the MPG!

Re: Gas Mileage after Programmer
We get an honest 12MPG with ours ( bounces between 11.9-12.2) with regular driving, most streets around here are 30-45MPH with a moderate amount of traffic lights. I do drive pretty easy, I figure its a big pig of a truck from a performance standpoint so there is really no need to be mashing the gas all of the time. I have yet to get any really decent mileage on the highway though, going 70-80MPH we have a really hard time seeing better than high 13's maybe 14, Overall Im pretty pleased with the mileage it gets.... not really much worse than any other big V8 SUV
I have a friend who also has an H2.... he has a set of 26" wheels and drives pretty aggresive and he is down in the 9-10 MPG range so depending on your driving style it can make a huge difference.

Re: Gas Mileage after Programmer
I have it... Before I installed I was getting roughly 12MPG give or take .2... After install with the premium setting I'm getting about 10.9 (according to the indicator) I have not gone through a tank yet to figure out true mileage yet.

Re: Gas Mileage after Programmer
RippSpeed is correct on the MPG in my mind. Everyone knows what happens when your are way way to lean. I do not care what you built the engine from it will end up damaged if you do not know what your doing in the tuning end of the deal. Lean has to be offset with something such as higher octane, greater cooling, or several other options. The cheapest is driving with a very light foot and going really slow if that lean.

Re: Gas Mileage after Programmer
The Predator is a great tuner if you can adjust +/- timing maps, fuel injection percentages, etc... I wish my hypertech could do that but then why would I need something like that... I have this problem with messing with cars alot... I cant leave $#!T alone... This Hummer I'm leaving pretty much stock... p.s. I bought this hummer for my wifey... I really want another hummer with a diesel in it... So I'm waiting to get mine when they offer a diesel with a alison 6spd...

I agree....I got 11.7 on the DIC in my 2006 and my 2008 is getting 10.8 right now on the DIC. It just turned over 2000 miles and most of my miles are in town. Not sure if i'll get up over 11 or not with it, the sound when you tromp it down is so damn nice I just cant keep my foot out of it!

Re: Gas Mileage after Programmer
Ok an update...
I recently switched over to Royal Purple synthetic 5w30 oil and change to a PureOne oil filter... reset my avg mileage on my DIC, filled up on gas and re-loaded my Hypertech program... So far on this tank I got an average of 12.4mpg the highest showed 16mpg on my DIC ... But I know its not rock solid yet ... I'll see how she fairs when I take my trip to San Francisco... I'll post my data on monday...

I am getting about 12.5 average in town/highway. Which I think is fantastic for what I have. My old Nav did basically the same and it wasn't near the truck as my H2. Of course I live out here in the flats, you can see for miles, so it makes the mpg a little better.

Re: Gas Mileage after Programmer
Ok guys just got back from San Francisco and I have to report... The worst mileage I got was at the 580fwy 9.8mpg ( doing 80mph in the up hills and down hills). While the best was 13.7mpg around the flat parts of the 5fwy past ButtonWillow ( that was doing 85mph)... But I did get about 12.7mpg on the 101 south ( thats hold 80mph all the way down), and the lowest was 12.4mpg ... So When we got the rig she was registering 10.9mpg and now since the programmer and the oil change we've done better... heres a pic of the DIC...
