Question Airbag Light Comes On Intermittently

Driving out of town last Friday, my airbag dash light comes on for about 5 seconds, goes off for about 20 seconds, comes on, off about 5-4 times. Then stays off for 5-10 minutes, then repeats. This cycle happened 4-5 times.

I called Onstar. They do a diagnostic and see nothing wrong. I ask if there are any error codes set in the H3's brain. Onstar woman didn't understand the question. I was transferred to Hummer Cust Serv. But they can't get a data connection to the vehicle like Onstar can.

I call Onstar back to get a rep who understands my question about error codes. She's better. She runs the diagnostic again. No problems reported. She said they would only get a code if the light were on. (Hmm really? It doesn't get stored for at least a few minutes?) The two times the diagnostic was run, the light was off.

I did a search here and read a few things about the error codes that can be set when the airbag goes off, or should have gone off but didn't. But not much else. I will check the connection under the seat (that was suggested in one of the threads. See I DO read ).

But does that make sense, that no error code would be stored?

Thanks for your help.

There is a history code, but possibly, Onstop can only see an existing code. I would bet one of the connectors is loose, and I suggest a trip to the dealer to have it fixed. Don?t want to mess around with airbags. When you need ?em, you really want ?em to work right.

just a quick question...did ya have anything in the passenger seat ?
the airbag is controlled by someone sitting in the seat
im guessing that something could be over there moving around and making the light go on and off

just a thought as i was reading this

possibility, if he was talking about the PPS light on the four wheel drive switch array, but if the actual airbag light on the instrument panel, it should not light up unless there is a problem with the system

Nothing in passenger seat, and the "passenger airbag" light above radio said "off" the whole time. This was the red airbag light on the instrument cluster that came on and off.
