To me that looks like the original H2 concept vehicle that GM showed in, I think, 2000 at the auto shows.

Yea thats the concept H2 and we are missing alot of fun gadgets that the concept had, Infra-red scope, Articulating hood louvers, billet handles, grill and trim, Osiliscope green guages, 19' rims with CTIS, DVD navigation, Computer docking station, Cloth SKYTOP which opens the entire roof like a convertible. ETC.....

It is the H2 concept vehicle that was announced at the 2000 Detroit Auto Show. It's actually the fastest concept-to-production vehicle ever.

The answer, as everybody knows, is the H2 concept ... I just find it a little bit strange...
With all of the pics available on the net and everywhere, those particular pics were taken at the "GM Styling Dome". This is where they evaluate full size clay models for surface shape and buy off on a lot of high-level elements of the vehicle design ....
These pics are usually not available to the general public ... I am just wondering how he came across them .

Another little known, and correct H2 factoid. It was the first ever 18 month VDP ( Vehicle Development Plan) that GM ever executed .... it had been tried previously but programs had always been delayed in inimitible GM style . I am not sure it was the first industry wide one however.
The only element from GM that participated in the development was the upper management. The rest of the program was completely supplier staffed .... another "first" we were asked to accomplish.

High-res pics are the norm for these activities at GM ... and the pics were staged by, and taken at GM, no doubt about it. These are the initial photos taken of a styling exercise, and then distributed, "GM Confidential" of course, throughout the corporation. This applies to a production clay.
These pics are of the show vehicle, that's why I say "strange".... They may have been "released" by GM in the manner you describe ....
This whole project was kind of strange to begin with. Like I said, Venture Industries built the show vehicle. Maybe these pics were taken at one of their upper management reviews since they did not have the normal GM styling input .... I don't really think anybody knew H2 would be a "go program" when these pics were taken.
