Default Setting up a wireless connection.

So the other day I had to do one of my least favorite things... Configure my laptop to my Linksys router. I dont know why but this always takes forever, and usually results in my blood pressure going up, followed by my making someone else set it up for me. But then I relized, with a Mac all you do is select your internet connection and hit the continue button. Wow. That actually makes sense... What a concept.

A Mac will def be my next choice of computers when the time comes around. I have heard few little negative things about them. Seem to be a solid machine.

There is a bit of a learning curve. But with Parallels and Boot Camp, you can have the best of both worlds (MAC OS X and Windows) until you become a total convert. Here is a tiny, tiny screen shot for you:

That is TOTALLY cool with me. The fewer people online with them, the less of a chance of people creating viruses and all the rest of that crap for them.

You're right...what a concept. I do the same with either of my wireless XP window laptops. So, what exactly is unique about the MAC, or are we comparing a MAC to an old laptop without XP or Vista?

Same thing I have heard, however they said (my co-worker) that once you get use to it, its easy to nav. There is not the problem with having crap trying to update eveytime you log on. Maybe Santa will drop one off this year.

I had XP proffensional. I dont know how you set up your connection but, I was never able to setup my connection this easily. Maybe I was missing something? As far as Vista goes I have no experience with it, with all the problems I have had with windows I did not really care to check it out. I have a couple of friends with it and they both had hard times setting up their connections. Granted, they both have the first relase, so maybe there was a glitch.

Apple makes a great computer, and we use them at work next to windows and linux machines. But just to clear up that misconception, OSx needs updates as often as windows. Along with regular patches and hotfixes, OSx is on its 6th major release with upcoming Leopard.

Wow, I wasn't aware of that. How costly is it to upgrade each time, and is each computer sold the latest and greatest version? Thanks for the insight....Jamie

You shut your lying Bill Gates fellating mouth.

Sure we get updates, but not to fix Hillary Clinton sized gaping holes in security. And we don't crash when the weather changes.

Don't have Vista, but I have two machines with XP; my personal laptop with media center, which is just another version of professional, and my work laptop with pro. All I do is turn it on, and it automatically notifies me of any wireless connections in the area, if it does not see my personal standard wireless connection.
I then click on the icon, go to the screen and click on and say connect to the wireless connection i desire. From then on, as long as it sees the previous connection, it connects automatically.

I will say that my old Toshiba was a bit more difficult, whereas, my HP and my work provided Compaq are newer and seem to be a lot better at connecting.
