Sub boxes / Stereo setup
This week or next week I'll be getting my 95 H1. I want to install my AV units so they look somewhat stealth. I'm wondering how much room there is under the seats. I think all my processors and amps can be installed under the from ones and though about the subs going under the rear seats. I'd like to keep the rear cargo area empty so I can haul stuff around. Is there enough room for a .75 cubic enclosure?
Wish I had one to look at and see up close. Damn this waiting is driving me crazy!!
Here's what going in:
Kenwood KVT-910 DVD/TV/full 5.1 sound
Kenwood DSP processor
Kenwood center channel and amp
Kenwood 10 disc changer
Fosgate 4040 (4x40watts)
2 - 7" screens
Not sure on the separates yet. I have Boston Acoustic 6.5 Pro's but I know they won't fit. I may just go with some 5.25 decent co-axails.
I'll post some pics on the progress once I start!

Re: Sub boxes / Stereo setup
I've got a 94 that I think is pretty similar to the 95. Depending on the shape you can fit quite a lot of stuff under the rear seats. I have an amp and a changer under one back seat but the sub I have could never make it. There is proabably about 1 cubic food of space.
Under the front seats I have no space what so ever. I can't even get my fingers in there if I drop a french fry.

Re: Sub boxes / Stereo setup
1 cubic ft is more than enough for each of my 10" subs. I made a box for my PT that uses .8 or so. You say there's not much room under the front seats? I though there would be the same amount of space there or at least 1/2 or it. All the processors I've listed fit under my PT front seats.
It sucks not having the H1 in front of me!!

Re: Sub boxes / Stereo setup
The space under the front seats depends on where you are looking. There is less than half an inch between the floor and the seat frame which, on mine, is a box full of all the adjustment mechanisims. Between the adjustment box/frame and the seat bottom is about 4-5 inches of vertical seperation. You may or may not be able to mount something there but I'd be very careful of seat movement and pintching the equipment.

Re: Sub boxes / Stereo setup
Thanks for the link! I may have to use the rear area instead. I guess I'll know for sure next week. My H1 should be ready by then.

Something to keep in mind...
If you offroad much and go through deepish water, you will likely get some in the truck and could fry your electronic gear if it's under the rear seats.

Re: Sub boxes / Stereo setup
Yes good point (water) and nice pics!
I'll keep it all in mind. I'll have to rip out the interior once I get it so I can address various issues. Hard to do anything until I have it on the driveway. At least I saw it on Saturday. Body looks great for a 95 but the interior needs a lot of work!
All in good fun though.

Re: Sub boxes / Stereo setup
Money is not always there for me too, which is why I'm using my old stuff I've listed before. I may just put all the units under the rear seats and make an enclosure for the 2 10" JL's. I like to make it look stealth and I will be using the rear often enough so I'll make the box removeable or maybe along the rear sides. Rear quater panels might be a good spot too.
At this point in time I don't see myself going through rivers yet.
A few bazooka tubes would be nice too but I'll use up what I have first. As I do the work I'll take before and after pics.

Re: Sub boxes / Stereo setup
I've decide to install the gear between the seats with a cover and my CD changer is mounted to the rear seat. Looks good and sounds great.
