Default Newby to H3, Picked it up on Wednesday

My wife and I picked up our 06 H3, Black Exterior, Black and Morocco (SP) interior, Locking rear, 33's, Nav, auto... We wish we would have bought one earlier.

The H3 rocks!! We love it... now to figure out how to get it dirty!!

K&N intake next, then exhaust.

Wahoo... post number two!!

We are in Richmond VA. Anyone else in VA know where the trails are?

We would love to get out west to Moab (SP)... we saw that post with all the pictures in southern Utah (I think) and WOW, that would be great!! We don't have anything like that around here.

Not another black one . Stoked for you brother! I am hooked after only 3 weeks, and you will find yourself looking for dirt or rocks or some obstacle to conquer in your daily driving. I dont think mine has been clean for more than a day since I owned it. Welcome!!

If you love your engine, pass on the K&N. http://www.duramax-diesel.com/spicer/index.htm I took my K&N off of my dmax after I read this. Save your money.

Congrats and welcome to the ownership of fun club!

Thanks for the note. The graff was interesting.

I have run K&N on all my vehicles thus far, and know from experience that the ratings change based upon the amount of oil in the filter. The worst I have heard/ witnessed, fortunately not on mine. Was adding too much oil to the filter increases its restriction and filtering ability, but pulls oil down the tube and cooks the mass airflow sensor.

This should be a new tread where there could be a lot of input and discussion, but for here, I must leave it at that.

My favirote thing I like to say Is... If these "gause/oil" air filters were that good..the Auto manufactures would be all over them. They'd come as standard equipment in your ride. Puting oil on a gause filter and expecting the dirt not to stick and clog the filter is someting I can't comprehend..????

Go with the Goodwrench Brand... It's made for your ride.

Very true. But the stock filter flow's as well as the budget will allow. It K&N flows better than stock, the more flow, the more power.

You can make more power with lower restriction exhaust, why does the factory not put the better flowing exhaust on the vehicle? The reason is similiar to the paper vs. cloth air filter.

I think your answer is in the read below. As far as the Exhaust goes... It has to do with a ton of other factors such as emissions, etc and other things that I'm sure F5 and our other resident HUMMER Engineers can explain when they drop by and read this post.

Your low restriction High Flow Filters Like K&N only flow so long before the oil in the gause starts to clog and slow down flow.

I use to use a K&N on my 86 Supercharged Corvette. After several months of driving it would start to clog up. I switched back to paper rather then go thru the hassel of cleaning it all the time. Besides...How much dirt does the K&N pass into your motor In it's Hi Flow mode..???

We could go back and forth here as some people like Chocolate and some Vanilla... So..as long as your happy with yoor K&N..that's all that counts.
