Question Extra 'click' in steering wheel when turning ...

I've gone back to the dealer twice on this one and they don't seem to know what I'm talking about. For example, when I am making a turn to the left and I have to turn the streering wheel a bit more, I can 'feel' a click in the steering wheel itself. It's like there is a one inch space for the steering wheel to turn, but it takes it another quarter inch. Like a notch. Difficult to explain and only the driver can experience it. Does anyone know what I mean? It's at the dealer now for that 'possible' problem, but I have a feeling I'll be getting it back the same with the invoice saying they 'lubed it'. I don't want this to turn into a major problem dowline. Has anyone felt this in their steering wheel? Help! Going back to the dealer in the morning to pick it up.
Thanks!

By a click do you mean like when the signals cancel, or more like you can feel something loose in the column?

It's difficult to describe. When I make a left or right turn, if DURING the turning process I turn the wheel a little more .. it feels like the steering wheel 'slips' a little. It doesn't affect the vehicle, but I can feel it in the steering wheel when I make that additional turn of the wheel. It sort of has a 'click' feel in the steering wheel. It's like there's some play in the steering wheel. The service guys put a new washer in the cross member yesterday. The service writer told me that when I have an alignment in December/January, it should make that 'click' less noticeable. I still have no idea what it is, but it's still there. The service writer says it's nothing and that all H2's have that. LOL, you KNOW I've heard that one before.
Thanks for any insight.

Almost sounds like a steering gear problem but hard to tell without feeling the problem myself. I am pretty sure all Hummers dont do this or im pretty sure i would have felt it. try putting some resistance against the front wheels like having them in a rut and see if it get more pronounced or worse. If it does i would be looking at the steering gear mounting bolts, the gear itself as well as looking for loose front end components.

Thanks HUMTECH. What you wrote makes sense to me. I'll try what you had suggested by putting the front wheels into some resistance (like a rut) and turning. I'm hoping it's okay to drive that way until Dec/Jan. It has been that way since I bought it in February, but could never get the dealer to replicate it. I appreciate your insight.
