Re: new member photos
Ita a 2003 and it rides great with the lift and Iroxes but how could I forget about my 2 biggest nightmares. From my expieances upgrade your steering ie your tie rods I went with Cognito motorsports. but there are lots of copanies that make them. OEM tie rods are junk!!! Regear it if you put bigger tires on it or you be paying for it in the long run I got 4.88 gears and a rebuilt tranny all in 1 shot. that hurt alot!

Re: new member photos
AMAZING !! LOVE THE TIRES, color, ... !!!
But, I don't like the spare tire on the back. You should put it on a roof rack.

Re: new member photos
Some of the 03's had a problem with the Transmission. I lost 2nd and 4th gears coming home one day.
What type of lift is that??
Love that color, Bad Ass truck.

Re: new member photos
It is a Superlifts 7.5 lift. I thought about the roof rack but could you imagne trying to get a 150 pound tire that size on or off a 10 foot rig??? plus when I called they could not give me a straght answer if my tire would even fit.
When my tranny went out it was the 2-4 band The warranty company would not cover it because it was lifted.

Re: new member photos
Extended warranty companies are useless if you modify your truck. The law says that the modification had to have caused the failure. All you can do is sue, and that cost more that just fixing it. They know you have no recourse.

Re: new member photos
do the 03's come with a 4l60e?
well, honestly, there is your problem. Trans is about it max holding capacity with our motors. You can supercharger it and it should hold, however, keeping an eye on your trans. temps and not abuse on it and it should live.
Im my camaro, i rebuild my stock 65e about three times before giving up and going to a 80e. Longer gears, however, stock on holds 700trq. while the 60e is around 300-400.
Than 2-4 band is a common issue. What happens is when, let say your in 2nd gear, shift to 3rd, that band lets go and the trans engages the 3-4 clutch pack. Shift to 4th and it reengages the 2-4 band. Do this with high temp, added stress or WOT application like a 4-2 shift under WOT or close to, and you'll over run the bands, heat the stock bands and clutch packs up real bad. Now, yor lifted, with your added weight and strain on your vehicle, it only adds to the equation.
ALso, these trans shouldn't be shifted manually except when necesary under off-roading applications. try to eliminate the 4-2 or 3-1 shift under wot, and never wot shift into 4th/od. Keep and eye on your temps and she should hold.
