Started Setting Up My H3 For Real Off Road Use.

I have an 07 H3 Manual 5 speed that I will be setting up for off roading. I just purchased some body armor. If anyone has any good ideas that would be helpful. Thanks.

Locker, if you don't have one and 35" BFG MTs.

The Hummer underbody armor is pretty good for taking abuse rather than your transfer case and transmission.

A set of rock rails are a must, either the Hummer ones or Rocky Roads.

What kind of body armor you talking about..??

differential skid plate, rear axle skid plates, rock rails, and underbody shield package. Thats what I bought so far. Don't know if I want to lift it so I might get the truxx leveling kit and 35's.

Just turn your Tbars up 2 or 3 turns vs teh extended leveling kit, add the 35's and maybe some aftermarket shocks and you're good to go IMO!!!!!!! You got all the skids covered.

Since you're going to off road this truck, some spare parts would be a good idea. Spare inner/outer tie rod and tools/ instructions on how to change it in the field would be good too.

Ive heard the Hummers are the way to go. Rockys didnt hold up under heavy use.

Rock rails and UCP are a must for anything more than moderate wheeling. Better tires would be next on the list. Cranking the t-bars a couple turns helps with front clearance. Stay away from "leveling" kits. Waste of money.

While they're missing the extra support that the OEM rails have, I have yet to hear of any real problems with them. At least on the H3. I know the H2 ones can actually flex up into the rocker panel.

Yea, I have the Rocky Roads. While I haven't put them through anything very difficult, it's hard to believe they would have any problems.

thanks for the input. I waiting for everything. Next will be some performance products. I will post some pictures soon. I have the entire truck wrapped in urban camo. Looks real cool. definitely want a GOBI roof rack next. I have a 94 Jeep Rock Crawler but figured I would sell it and put the money in my H3. I use it daily for work. I show homes in it and people love it. Its my HOUSE HUNTING MACHINE.

what do you think should be first for performance. Chip, Air Intake, Exhaust, Do you guys see a big difference. I plan on getting another H3 for my agents to use to show homes in. I have a denali but fell in love with this. So I drive this everyday. I was going to buy the H2 but its too big for what I need it for. Plus would hate to wheel it and mess it up. big price tag on them. Got my H3 for 27k brand new with 0 Percent APR on the loan so it was a great deal.
