Hi all. Yes I did a search already, with no hits. Dropped off H3 to GM (not Hummer) dealer to begin fixes of computer glitches, rail cracks, rear washer pump, doors not closing in the cold, stab 4x4 errors, etc. The service guy was impressed that I had all the problems/fixes already identified with applicable service bulletins, etc., before I even walked through the door (thanks to you all). So, here's the latest issue. Dealer calls me back and says the door won't unlock with the key. When I got there to give them the remote, I'll be dammed, the door lock was, uh...dead. I put the key in and turned either way and nothing, no click, no sound, no resistance, no nothing; like it was an empty cylinder! So, I told him to add it to the list of repairs. Anyone else experience this?

Yup, It was one of the first few posts that I made after getting my H3 almost a year ago, it's happened to me twice now.

The lock linkage on the H3 is cable, unlike conventional metal lock rods. I found that if someone slams the door a little too hard the cable will pop out of one of the clips that holds it in place. When that happens your key will turn in the lock but it won't unlock the door.

It's an easy fix, pull the panel, snap the cable back in place and you're good to go but, hey, that's what a warranty is for.

Just a heads up: make sure that the dealership puts the door panel back on correctly.

That's it Killian

I have been slamming the doors HARD to close them in this cold (see Bulletin #05-08-64-002A Door Latch Freezing In Cold Temperatures (Apply Super Lube) - (Dec 19, 2005). That is what probably did her in!!

Thanks again
