"4 wheel drive service " pops up on dash comp

Any one having problems with message "4 wheel drive service" popping up in their in dash computers?
Mine only does to once in awhile with no other noticeable symptoms... Maybe sensors?

I experienced this in my H3---while in Vegas running up and down freeway at rush hour.
I got it to the dealer, they said it was the brake light switch had failed, apparently something that was known to go bad, but not recalled.

I would bet it's your 4WD selector switch...mine went bad ("developed a short") last year and caused the exact problem you describe.

The dealer diagnosed it right away...I guess something comes up on the Tech II indicating the failure. It was a relatively inexpensive fix...maybe $75 installed; I can't remember exactly.

I had the exact same problem and the dealer told me to shift it in and out of 4Low a couple of times, but it didn't help. They ended up replacing the 4 wheel drive buttons on the dash under warranty because one had gone bad, and it solved it.

Thanks all you guys for the input.
My stealership tried to tell me that it was the 4 wheel drive motor gone bad and they have seen it before (750$ to fix).Did not take the bait as there are no other problems that I can sense with the truck. Will try if they can do the repair under warranty as I reported the problem right before the 4 year warranty ended.
