Hi.
For those of you debating whether to buy the OEM H3 DVD Nav, I would recommend it. The integration is very successful, the tactile screen makes settings a breeze and integration means all components work well together. You get a nice logo when the system boots, you get white maps, turn on your lights and they are black, XM and FM have two bands with 6 presets each, Am has one with six presets and the sound is grand!

Interesting sales pitch. Looks purty...
I'll stick with my $400.00 Garmin, that does the same, with a smaller screen, and I only need it when traveling cross country.

Thanks. I ordered my H3 with this and the demo also had it, but there was no disc in it to play with.

Hi.
the whole front of the unit flips down, you insert the Multi Gig double layer DVD, it covers the Continental USA and the largest Canadian cities. You can plug in an address or phone number of your destination and it guides you by map or just tells you where to turn. Points of Interest are built in like gas stations, malls stores car dealerships hospitals etc... It does not play regular DVDs. Too bad... Also, you can listen to a CD while the nav system is on the two bays are independant. I love the system.

Glad its working for you, I thought having a GPS a little higher works better for me as I can keep an eye on the road when I'm managing it, ended up with a Garmin as well, the traffic feature is pretty slick. This set up does look nice. Can it also handle a rear facing camera and Ipod interfaces? I'd have gotten this if it would have been offered but I'm really happy with my garmin.

Looks very slick. I do love the fit & finish as well as the intergration between the NAV and the radio.
But I just can't get past the $$$. As far as pure navigation features, you can get a Garmin unit that does twice the work for half (or less) of the price of an OEM unit. But nevertheless the OEM still looks very, very sweet.

Is it a touchscreen display or do you have to use the buttons

It is not cheap indeed. However. all things being equal, it offers full integration, the tactile (Touch) screen, the lower position is not really a bother as the voice commands allow you to totally disregard the screen and follow commands and the voice comes from front pillar mounted speakers with a most pleasant feminine voice.
