gas econ and tach jump

Hey all,
Well today I noticed on my drive into work that my instant gas econ was showing lower than normal. Normally I see 10-12mpg doing 75mph which is turning at about 2100-2200 rpms. Today I see it is showing 8-9 mph.
Same type of driving conditions, same temps, etc etc
No codes are coming up on my elm327

Another thing I have noticed over the last few weeks that my tach does a little 250-500 rpm jump between the 1000-2000 rpm range. I am unsure in which gear it is since it doesn't seem to be something I can completely reproduce. It doesn't do it all the time. Just seems to happen in the morning.

Overdrive (torque lockup) not working?

I dont think so.
I mean the tach jumping seems to happen in 3rd gear (I think) and it seems to happen in the morning.
I havent really seen it happen any other time
Doesnt seem to be something I can duplicate either.

And it is a quick jump or 2 and then thats it.

As for the gas, I dont think so. I mean if it wouldnt go into over drive (4th gear) wouldnt I get a light?

And another thing I noticed again is that the only time this gas issue is an issue is in the morning
