Trade in value of an H3
This week I took my H3 into the dealership to get an oil change and my left rear blinker replaced, and while I was waiting I test drove an H2 and fell in love. Hummer just started a 0% for 72 months on all 06 H2's. They are making room for the 07's.
My question is how much do you think the trade in value of the 06 H3's are? Mine is fully loaded(excluding navigation and roof airbags), Lux & offroad pkg, Chrome everywhere(including wheels), sun roof, XM, trailer pkg, slate blue, TV/DVD headrests, homelink, etc... I have about 11K miles on it. I built one on hummer.com and the MSRP is a little under $40K.
I would have had the dealer quote me a trade in value, but I didnt have time to wait. What do you guys think?

Re: Trade in value of an H3
Take it back and have them give you a value. They could have done it while it was in the service bay.

Re: Trade in value of an H3
They couldnt value it in the service bay because they appraise vehicles in another dealership across the street.

Re: Trade in value of an H3
Remember price out the H-2 first and do not mention the possible trade.
After you have the H-2 price which should be BELOW factory invoice because its an 06 and not an 07 then mention your trade...
I'm guessing it will be around 30% less then what you paid.
Let us know

Re: Trade in value of an H3
No need for me to test drive the 07 H3 because I am needing more room. The H3 is getting a little tighter as my son gets bigger.

35? only if you're not 'well below invoice' like RYD said...as far as a realistic trade value - low 30s. Take it to a few places and tell them you want to sell it out-right to them, that will give you a TRUE value on it, not playing with the numbers of the new vehicle, etc.

Traded in against WHAT. If the NEW auto had the price jacked up, sure they give you a lot for your trade, but did you get the BOTTOM LINE on your new whatever???

Re: Trade in value of an H3
A $40k '06 H3 is worth about $26k now. Trade allowance will depend upon wholesale to wholesale or retail to retail, or some mix thereof.
H2's in my opinion aren't any bigger inside for usable space.

Re: Trade in value of an H3
30,500 was the true trade in for my situation yellow ducky. Worked the deals separate on new buy and trade. Bought new Dodge Ram Hemi. Wasn't going to buy cash; worked the deal on the new truck then decided to trade the H3. I believe they gave me the above number due to alot of the extras I put on it. Magnaflow exhaust, upgraded 33 tires, small chrome extras.

Re: Trade in value of an H3
Dirtdog74H1 - Including sales tax and license, how many thousands of dollars were lost in the trade? Looks like about $7K.
Decent trade-in price but who knows how much the rapidly depreciating Dodge Ram cost...

ummmm? no. The H2 is way bigger inside. Fold the seats down in both trucks....way more room. put five adults in both trucks, more room in the H2 again.

Re: Trade in value of an H3
My observations: two front seats - even score, rear seat - H2 a little wider, cargo area- H2 usually has huge spare tire taking up 1/2 of cargo space. I would agree without the spare tire inside the H2 has more space, but most don't come that way from the factory.

or you can spend $1500 to move the H-2 tire outside...

I wondered about the spare tire on the earlier models after i posted. GOOD POINT! The spare tire is standard being mounted outside since late 04 I believe. So the rear cargo area is more useable in the H2 without in there. With it mounted in there, that thing is a monster. I don't think you have anywhere near as much room as an H3 in the back with it mounted. The center council has more room in the H3 also as long as you don't have the DVD player mounted in there. The glove box in the H2 is larger inside though.
I guess there can be different deffs. of what useable space can say about a truck. We have an H2 and an H3. Love both trucks, but anytime we go off to Home Depot or the lumber yard we take the H2. The design of the H3rear seats not folding flat hinders stackable space in the H3 where the H2 has way more room when it comes to that. now on the flip side, the H3 seat backs stay upright and you can move the seat bottoms forward. This helps us on quite a few occasions also.
I'm wondering what the actual claimed carrying capapcity in sq ft is on both trucks. ???
