Locker in 4HI or Part-Time???
Fellas,
Is there anyway to modify the rear diff. locker to work in 4 HI or even Part-Time 4x4?
My brother-in-law has a Tacoma TRD that did the same thing....quick fix, just had to add a ground wire.
Has someone figured out how to do this for the H2?

Re: Locker in 4HI or Part-Time???
Why would you want to lock the diff in 4hi or even bigger question part time???? Its not a limited slip but a straight locker (like a spool on a race car). Driving like that (unless you are on loose or slipperty ground) is not good for truck and it would make the front end shove badly during cornering/turning which our rigs already do bad enough because of thier weight.
I suppose if you really want to do it there is gotta be a way to bypass it but the real question is why?

Re: Locker in 4HI or Part-Time???
I understand your response and I used to think the same thing.
That was until my brother in law modified his Tacoma to enable him to use his locker anytime (2wd, 4hi, etc...) and man, I loved the versatility it gave him.
Has anyone out there tackled this?

Re: Locker in 4HI or Part-Time???
i am planing on doing this as well.
there are many times in 4HI i would like it locked to help get out. and no i wouldnt drive down the road with it locked.
but there are times when i am climbing something and a front wheel comes off the ground, i reach up and hit my front air locker, lock up the front end and drive off. it would be nice to do the same for the rear.
i have not done it yet, but it is an elocker, so it shouldnt be much more then putting a 12v hit to the locker. a wire and a switch and done.

Sounds to me like if you need the extra traction for a situation you should shift out of 4 Hi.
