I was looking at adding the Edelbrock 6502 shorty headers and 5737 sport exhaust to my H2. I could get the whole package for about 600 through the internet. I was just wondering if anyone had done such add-ons to their H2 and how much of a difference it makes as far as hp,tourque, sound, etc.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Are those the chrome, black, or ceramic headers?

Jigga - I have the JBA shorty's and the Corsa Sport exhaust. Sounds real good, pretty loud, mean sounding. Didn't notice much of a difference, but I don't think most people would in an 8k Lbs. truck...But still worth it to listen to your muscular 6.0

Jig...did you ever put the headers on? If so, was it a good choice? Did you notice significant HP?

Please read this previous post--it has a lot of info on headers.

Bottom line is that if you want your headers to last, make sure they are 304SS. The Edels are 409 and do not last like a B & B or Borla.

With headers, you do get what you pay for.

If you want to go crazy, you can get a coating applied called Jet-Hot. It is the best coating I have found. Not only does it help with heat disapation, the coating keeps the headers from turning color as they age.

Gas mileage is almost nil----better throttle response and more power are what headers provide by taking away heat from the engine faster and providing better flow--less backpressure.

If you have a supercharger, high flow cats are highly recommended. The OEM cats suck as they are and are prone to failure oevr time. One of mine was failing (getting blocked) after 3K miles with a SC.

The number one failure of an engine with a SC is excessive heat (know the Magneson warranty guy who keeps stats). With failing cats, the engine heat stays closer to the engine (fails to porperly get out of the rig through the tailpipes) and failure of valves, or worse pistons, are possible.
