Oh Yeah, Baby...

Went To Pacific Raceway today for a little 50 degree sunshine with a mild breeze test and tune session. I'm completely satisfied with the results.

Run #1 (w/ passenger) and slight brake stalling gave me the following-
60 ft: 2.237 1/8 mile: 9.671 @ 72.04 mph 1/4 mile: 15.208 @ 86.80 mph

Run #2 (w/o passenger) and a little more brake stalling gave me this-
60 ft: 2.193 1/8 mile: 9.571 @ 72.85 mph 1/4 mile: 15.058 @ 87.52 mph

I knew that LPE advertised 15.2's with their basic supercharger kit. I honestly figured they probably massaged a few other engine and intake parts to get that result. I expected to do 15.4's or there about. As it turns out, I'm knocking on 14's already.

I am only running the basic radix kit with the included tuning. As previously stated it is making about 5 psi as soon as I stomp the pedal and 6.5 psi most of the way through the rpm band. It hits 7 psi right at the shift point. It is a 3.1 pulley. I also have the Magnaflow catback. I still have my stock air filter, too.

The only weight I've taken out of the vehicle is the spare tire, jack, and the interior mount for both items which total about 140 lbs. I also took off the roof racks for another 25 lb loss.

This kit rocks!

Do you have the H2 Hummer Lingenfelter 500 HP SC Super Duty Package or the 475 SC only package? Because, they advertise 1/4 mile 14.41/95.04 with the 500 HP SC package.

Did you calculate 0-60mph times?

Thanks!

I don't have any LPE package. I just used the same supercharger they install which is made my magnusson and sold as a MagnaCharger Radix.

I installed it with the help of a friend in my garage. I will be doing a few other things in the future to drop deep into the 14's with the strip times.

My next mod is installing factory 2005 GM electric fans which ought to net me 12-15 RWHP. After that I'm looking at a slightly smaller pulley to get up to about 8.5 psi boost. I'll be looking to add a cooler thermostat as well because it will help efficiency and fight the engine heatsoak into the supercharger. Beyond that I will install a heavyduty Trailblazer torque convertor for a little higher stall speed and bulletproof the transmission. Once those are complete I will remove torque management from the programming.

If I went so far as to do heads and cam I could definitely be running well into the 13's. I'll probably go there eventually, but I'll take my time on that.

There is no real magic involved in going fast no matter what you are running. Just research the parts available and put together a good plan or send it to someone else who has already done so (LPE, Breathless, etc).

With an agenda like this I don't have any time for billet

I don't have either, but my package is comparable performance-wise to the LPE 475 package. The LPE website claims this package lowers 1/4 mile time from 17.7 (stock) to 15.2 (supercharger only package). Well, I weigh about 270 fully dressed and had a passenger on my first run which easily hit 15.2. So even with the roof rails and spare tire it'll still run 15.2 with a driver only.

What is fun is to notice that my video run has me running a 15.05 to beat a import that runs a 17.70... Basically its as if I ran a stock H2 and you can see the carlengths that the kit is worth vs a stock truck.

As I bought my kit and installed it for less than $5K I still have a lot of mod money to reach and exceed that 500 Super duty package's 14.4. As it is the truck has 14.9 in it right now

Congrats Cory. The truck is a bitch to handle off the line isn't it. It is amazing what can be done with these trucks. That is a much better video than mine. But they were actually taping the Lightning.

BTW, it's odd, but I have have the same pulley and am pulling 8psi and 9 at the shifts. I hope you hit low 14's soon. That is the goal of HummersGoneWild without going into the motor.

What air filter are you using or did you modify the stock one? I removed my AiRaid because it whistled.

Ken,

Right now the truck just goes straight. I could drive with one hand if I wanted to. Even on the street it just takes off smooth.
I'm still using the stock airbox with 3 two-inch holes cut into the bottom. The airfilter is still stock- I'm still at 2993 miles on the truck. I haven't even had an oil change yet!

I will move to a K&N filter pretty soon.

Cory, Very cool thanks for sharing the video. Since we both have basically the same set up I am going to assume that my performance would be about the same. I do have an aftermarket air intake and electric fans. It will be interesting to see if that makes any difference, what difference it makes if any will probably be lost in reaction time. I think when I get a chance I'll go to CA and see if they still allow open nights at the speedway. I'll have to pay someone to video tape (mostly because I can't afford any friends)
I'm still looking for a 4x4 dyno place. I think there is one in Southern Ca but I've forgotten there name. There are several shops here in town but they all want or need to disconnect the front drive shaft.

thanks again for sharing.

Definitely take it to the track. A lot of people have no idea that these trucks can be faster than stock. I had a lot of people coming up and asking what it had in it and overall most people thought it was cool that I was running it and that it was faster than quite a few import cars.
My HP Tuner software arrived today so I'll be correcting the tuning program that came with the supercharger shortly to make it perfect for my truck. Every engine runs a little bit different and a one-size-fits-all program is never the best. Mine will be perfect.

I had the dealer do a custom set up as well. Magna Charger pre-loads a program onto the computer which the dealer sends to them. They then supply a programmer that will only take out the custom settings and revert it back to stock. Since my local dealership has installed so many they have a programmer there. I don't know the brand but they said that the program from Magan never runs correctly becasue each truck is different so they custom build one to each truck.

Cory,

Is that the Hummer or the Jap squealing tires. At the first of the race? How long did it take you to install? Were there any problems with the computer mods?

It could be the import but it is most likely someone behind us both in the water box. They run the laps pretty tight at Pacific Raceway. As quick as one car stages the next is pulling up.

My truck doesn't spin at all, not even in the wet. The only really odd quirk to the included tune is that there is a slight stumple when the truck is cold that is right off idle. If you ease into the throttle it is fine or if you hammer it is fine. If you come off idle as a driver normally would it sometimes has that little stumble. That is the only issue I've noticed and it only happens occasionally. It can be overlooked considering how great the whole package works.
I think install took about 20 hours. There are a few items that you have to be very careful about because it can get expensive if you break anything during the process.

Great Run! How does a supercharged H2 handle off road...anybody? I just ran into a guy with a terminator H2. I wish I had a pic, but he had a 5inch lift on it, and some 20" wheels I think. He said he has a lot of fun out in the dunes, broken a couple of axles, and always keeps a couple tie-rods on hand. Supercharged get's him some pretty good hang-time.

Well, in my experience you either off road or race with my personality type If you try to do both you usually can't be that successful and both are equal drains on finances. Offroading breaks parts just like racing does As I'm not an off roader I had to make it faster so as to be above the typical "mall queen."

Now if I could only find some lightweight 18's that can take the weight I'd be set. As a racer, I'm not fond of 100 lbs of rotating weight per wheel and tire but I won't put a smaller tire on either. I don't want a low rider.

Hey C
I just got to see your video for the first time. That was awsome. I have saved Yours and Ken's to My Laptop. I Love telling people about You and Ken as they are the only video's I have saved. They argue and then I pull out the old laptop and show them. I have even won a few friendly bets on Ken's. Boy I can't wait to get more Ponies. I'm to call R@D guy back late friday or Sat. I hope something finally is decided one way or another or I'm just going to have My polished Magna Charger shipped. Hummer dealer said they would install for about $900 and that would allow me to buy 36/36,000 drivetrain from Magna Charger if I go that way. Does that install price sound OK. I have been told that if You let someone do a wideband tune versus the tune shipped with charger it will add up to 50 more Hp but, told to make sure tuner does not lean it to much. Problem is Magna charger says if You do not use thier tune it voids all warranties. What is Your thought on this? We H2 people are patient "NOT" so I can hardly stand it anymore. Sorry for the spelling and wording I'm very sick this morning and locked in the house as it is raining cats and dogs. I welcome anyone's input if You do not mind.
I'm calling the tranny people today to visit with them. I have a 160 degree t-stat just waiting on the kit. Look at My signature and see if there is anything else i may want to get on hand. I want electric cooling fans and have used Flex-a-lite. The GM fan is news to Me can You tell Me more about them or have a link I can go to? The Flex-A-Lite is around $400. What would cost of GM fan be?
Thanks C for the help You have been and sharing the video.
