Powder coated wheels w/pics
Finally got the powder coated wheels and new tires mounted up today. Went with the firestone destination ATs 285/75/R16. Painted the center caps a different tone for some contrast. (07 H3, standard package).

Close up of wheel, went with a textured black finish, sort of like the surface on a teflon (sp?) coated, non-stick fry pan.

Re: Powder coated wheels w/pics
Thanx, The weights are on the outside and the inside. The mechanic who mounted and balanced the tires told me he could put them all on the inside but that the wheel was more likely to go out of balance like that. I dont know squat when comes to that kind of thing and he has always treated me right so I told him to set it up for the best "function" and screw the "form". I put a little black spray paint on the weights to camoflage them.

Cool
Were your rims Chrome or Factory paint to start out with?
What did they charge you for all 4 rims for powder coat
If Chrome, what was the process for powdercoat?
Thanks

Re: Powder coated wheels w/pics
The wheels were chrome. He charged me $60.00 per wheel. As for the exact process he used I am not sure. I trusted the guys knowledge as he has a whole shop full of custom motorcycles and cars he is working on. Real high end, show quality stuff. You can check out his web site at www.powdercoatingit.com/ . Located in Plainville, Ct. He was really nice to work with and the turn around time was one week. I will let you know how they hold up but I am pretty confident in the workmanship.

How did you go about it? Did you put it up on blocks for a week or what? Looks tight man.

Re: Powder coated wheels w/pics
Thanx. Yes I put it up on jack stands in the garage for the week. Borrowed a truck and brought the wheels and tires to be dismounted. Brought the tires home and drove the wheels to the shop. Waited a week. Picked up the wheels and drove them to the garage where I bought the tires and had them mounted. Borrowed a trcuk and brought everything home. Major pain in the ass!!! Let me tell you, the wife wasnt too happy with our brand new truck up on the stands. It was a ton of work and aggrevasion, not to mention $850.00, but it was worth it. I love the look of it and got great prices all the way around.
